This beautiful BURLAP AND LACE BABY SHOWER was submitted by Anna Hogbin of Mama Bear’s Kitchen.

What a cute theme for a gender neutral baby shower! I absolutely love all of the ideas using burlap and lace; such as the  darling banners, signs, garland, and fringe! This theme would be perfect for a baby shower for a boy or girl, a bridal shower, or even a wedding dessert table.

The Burlap & Lace party ideas and elements that I adore most from this darling baby shower are:

  • The cute glass soda bottles wrapped in burlap, tied with twine, and a biscuit placed on top
  • The darling burlap “gifts” banner with spools attached to it
  • The burlap pennant banner with hearts on it
  • The invitations with burlap and buttons on them
  • The cute button cookies laced with twine
  • The onesie and ribbon framed backdrop
  • The beautiful and elegant cake
  • and MORE!

This is what Anna said about planning/styling the party- “This burlap and lace baby shower was designed as a place of rest and refreshment for a dear mother eagerly awaiting the arrival of her fourth child. I wanted the gender neutral palette to be easy on the eye and full of diverse textures, such as natural wool, string, hessian (burlap), white , cream and ivory fabrics. The table became a treasure trove of edible treats as I placed sugar button cookies around the display and on the soda bottles. The naked gingerbread cake was adorned with sugar frosted berries, and the chocolate cupcakes were my own Chunky Monkey recipe, filled with organic bananas, walnuts and delicious peanut butter frosting. One of my favourite features of the party was the small vintage doll cradle with the ‘gift’ garland strung across it. This was very simple to make using hessian scraps, ribbon, calico and old wooden spools. It looked beautiful. I also loved using the ‘Willow Tree’ statues to create a display that celebrated the progression from pregnancy to motherhood and the birth of a new family unit.”

Love the burlap and lace baby shower idea!!! What did you use for the thank you favors? I’d love to use the twine and burlap bag, but what’s inside?

    Thanks so very much!

HI Cheryl, Sorry I only just saw your comment now. I made chocolate chip cookies to put in the burlap favour bags.

I love the baby sign, going t use that idea for a college graduation. How big was your sign? Did you make the letters yourself or buy them? Did you make a stencil for the letters and then cut them out?

HI Dawn, Sorry I only just saw your comment now. The sign was not very big. The cradle is a doll’s cradle, but I just recently used it on a full size baby cradle and it was fine. ( See Rustic lace baby shower here: http://mamabearskitchen.com.au/rustic-lace-baby-shower/)
I painted the hessian myself. I drew an outline onto the hessian with pencil, then painted it with white acrylic paint. It was easy to do. Each section of hessian/letter was probably about 4×6 inches? I tied wooden spools between them. you ca buy cut hessian buntings at Spotlight (Australia). I just used scraps of hessian I had at home. Hope this helps. Sorry if it is too late.

HI Dawn, Sorry I only just saw your comment now. I Traced the letters onto hessian with pencil, before painting over them with white paint. Each hessian piece was probably about 4 x 6 inches. It was fairly easy. The sign was not really big. The cradle here was a doll’s cradle. I also used it on a baby cradle i another baby shower recently.
