Safari themed baby shower

This darling SAFARI THEMED BABY SHOWER was submitted by Kara Abrahamsen of Lillian Hope Designs.

What a fun theme for a baby boy’s shower. I especially love the “It’s A Boy” banner made out of burlap. I also love the cute chocolate dipped Oreos. This party is full of adorable ideas that would work perfectly for not only a baby shower, but for a little boy’s birthday party as well.

The Safari party ideas and elements that I like best from this darling baby shower are:

  • The fun elephant sugar cookies
  • The safari diaper cake
  • The darling safari printables
  • The dipped Oreos
  • The cute Oreo pops
  • and MORE!

Safari Baby Shower Details:

This is what Kara Abrahamsen said about planning the party- “I did this Safari Baby Shower for my now one year old nephew, Jagger. The sweet mom to be wanted something with elephants and giraffes to match the baby crib bedding. I immediately knew I wanted to use silhouettes and burlap! Annye Newmann from Faith Photography did an amazing job capturing this special occasion and all of the great dessert table details! On the invitation the guest were asked to please bring a book to help start Jagger’s new library.
Party Decorations
For the backdrop I took two large foam boards from Hobby Lobby and used duct tape to connect them. I then wrapped the foam boards in a dark brown burlap fabric using a hot glue gun. For the It’s A Boy banner I cut out the printed banner pieces with a circle cutter and then attached them using glue dots to the ruffle burlap circles. One of my good friends, Lauren, originally made the burlap banner pieces. She cut strips of burlap and fanned them together in a circle hot gluing down the pleats on a cardboard circle as she fanned. The Burlap Ruffle Table Runner was purchased from StraightStich. I cut it in half and used one on each side of the dessert table.
This diaper cake was one of my favorite things to make for the baby shower. There are many ways to make a diaper cake. I started with one diaper and rolled it up; then I placed a very stretchy rubber band around the diaper. I continued rolling diapers and sticking them in to the rubber band as I went until I got each tier to the size I wanted. I then stacked the three tiers on top of each other and started to decorate. I wrapped each tier in ribbon and then added lots of shredded paper. I used one of the burlap banner pieces I talked about earlier and added a party circle to the center.
My mom cut holes in the 12×12 photo boxes (found at Hobby Lobby and Michaels) to turn them into cone holders! I used scrapbook paper and rolled it into cones for the popcorn. Then I attached party logos to the front. It was hard to get pretty little circles when cutting the cardboard boxes, but that was easily fixed by adding shredded paper in the holes to cover up the rough edges.
Games and Activities
As the guest arrived I handed out mini clothes pin clips that I had spray painted to match the shower. Each guest received three clothes pins and they were told they could not say: Baby, Jagger, or Taylor. If they heard someone say those words they were allowed to take a clip from that person. At the end of the shower the person with the most clips received a gift!
I also had the guest play the baby food jar guessing game. Guest had to guess the typed of baby food on the numbered jars and write it down on their game sheet next to the corresponding number. Some were brave and tasted it; others just used their since of smell:-) The game sheet that comes in this party package has several fun shower games!
Party Sweets
I ordered Chocolate Covered Oreos from SweetiesByKim. Kim always does a great job with her dipped Oreos! The Elephant cookies were made by my best friend Alyssa from Bonbon Du Jour. She makes my cookies for every party I do and always does a fantastic job! The Oreo Pops were made by my good friend Lauren who also made the burlap banner pieces. Oreo Pops are always a favorite at any party I host!”
