OLD FASHIONED ICE CREAM PARLOR PARTY DETAILS:

This is what Danielle said about planning the party- “For my twins 2nd birthday party I decided on an Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor theme. Since we have girl/boy twins the I stuck to a neutral color palette of red, brown and blue

DIY PROJECTS:
The first project to tackle was the ice cream parlor awning – which was a perfect job for my hubby :) The awning frame was actually super easy and inexpensive to make. For the canopy I ordered several yards of white fabric, measured out the lines to the desired width and painted on the red stripes and cut the scallop (using a large plate as a template).

Next was the sign that displayed above the dessert table. It was my first attempt at DIY hand drawn chalkboard lettering and I was pretty happy with the way it turned out.

DESSERTS:
The dessert table was fairly simple with ice cream being the main feature. Guests could choose from a variety of cones, build their own sundae or make their own root beer float.

Other “ice cream inspired” desserts (all made in my very own kitchen) included:
- Chocolate & Vanilla Ice Cream Cone Cake Pops
- “Drumstick” Cake Pops
- Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes
- Rice Krispy “Ice Cream Bars”
- Chocolate Malts

Instead of a large cake I decided to make very simple, individual cakes for each child.”

Hi Nikki! I’m sorry for the delay…I don’t receive a direct request when questions are posted. We actually created the awning. My husband built the frame and I created the fabric portion. To do so I ordered several yards of white duckcloth and painted on the red stripes (measuring carefully to ensure that they were evenly spaced). For the scallop along the front I simply traced 1/2 of a large dinner plate (repeating down the length of the fabric) and cut it out. The we just used a staple gun to attach the fabric to the wooden frame. Thanks so much for checking out our party!

    Amazing and perfect execution!

How did you manage the ice cream and it not melt?

Im having the hardest time finding those old fashion glasses. Suggestions? Or would you sell any of your party leftovers?

    Again, beautiful job!

Hi Meg! I’m so sorry but unfortunately I don’t receive a notice when someone asks a question :( Hopefully I’m not getting back to you too late…
For the ice cream we simply pre-scooped each flavor into (single scoop balls) and froze them on a cookie sheet until just before we were ready to serve. That paired with placing the quart containers in a bucket of ice kept the ice cream frozen long enough for all of the guests to go through the sundae bar.
I actually found all of the glasses on ebay but have since seen similar styles at Hobby Lobby. Libby also carries a line that would work well. Hope that information is helpful! Thanks for checking out our party!
