Here’s what Laila said about planning the party- “This year for my daughter’s third birthday party, I decided to celebrate her love for animals and throw her a colorful animal centered party. I started the design process by illustrating silhouettes of her favorite animals and then deciding to go with a bright and very colorful color palette. The invitations featured all the colors and so the party began to take shape. I fell in love with the look of succulents and enlisted Isabel Isaac from Isaac Farms to create the three centerpieces I used for the adult tables. My daughter’s only request was that actual animals showed up to the party (well that and lots of candies and a cake of course) so I searched and found through my talented baker, Safari Edventures here in Miami. I always team up with Brantley from Sweet Brantley’s for anything that has to do with sweets. She translated the invitation and the look of the party so well into our 3 tiered cake!

For the party favors, I found perfect safari themed puzzles at target and wrapped them in kraft paper. I used the patterns I had created to print a large sticker to wrap around the presents and did a circular tag with each child’s name on it to put on top of that. I knew from the very beginning that I wanted crates, the problem was that I wanted a more vintage look than most of the store bought crates have, so I collected hand stamped wine crates that I found had more personality. To give the party a more festive look, I added the crates full of tillandsias and the moss around the crates. I bought plastic animals I used to decorate the tables and to fill the piñata as well.

For the linens, I knew I wanted burlap to offset the colors of the bright decorations I had done, so I did an off white linen and a burlap overlay in all the food tables, I used colorful linens for the rest of the tables. To make it even more colorful, I purchased balloons, I wanted to add a special touch to some of the balloons, so I purchased 1″ confetti (in the colors of the party) and hand filled clear balloons with them. I found they gave the party that extra special touch.”

Safari + Zoo Themed 3rd Birthday Party

This exquisit SAFARI + ZOO THEMED THIRD BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Cassia Schutt of Meemo Party Accessories!

Cassia said- “This party was designed by Meemo, my party accessories business that is established both in Macau (China) by me and in Brazil by my friend and partner, Thais. We both decided to create Meemo when we realized we couldn’t find pretty partyware for our kids’ birthday parties. How come we can’t find good stuff for retail in China, where practically everything is produced and exported to the world??!

So living in China, I was very happy to celebrate my son Noah’s birthday for the first time in Brazil, where our family lives. One of Noah’s biggest passions are animals, and after we went on a Safari in Bali, earlier this year, I got the inspiration to throw this wild party to celebrate his 3rd birthday!

Everything was DIY with the great help of my family, friends and partner at Meemo party Accessories. Both of us share the love for simple and beautiful celebrations, that are handmade with care and joy. Every detail of this party was carefully thought of and even the buffet staff was dressed as Safari keepers! All the decor and party printables had a touch of Balinese ikat patterns, and rustic jute and wooden materials were used everywhere! Also the wooden animals that were used as table decoration came from Bali. For the sweets I chose the famous Brazilian chocolate “brigadeiro” that was also given as a party favor in small burlap bags. Also as party favors, the kids took home cotton bags that were hand painted with an elephant stencil, with binoculars, a wild animal mask and a safari hat!!

The recreation staff were amazing and kept the children entertained the whole time with storytelling, face painting, fake tattoos, and cute songs that brought up some sweet memories of my childhood! Happy Roarrrr Birthday Noah boy!”

Wild Kingdom 5th Birthday Jungle Party

Such a darling WILD KINGDOM 5TH BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Katelyn Meekel of Events by Kate! I love how Kate dressed up the party by wrapping jute/twine around various party things!

Kate said- “For my latest work I was asked to design a party for a gorgeous 5 year old “Savannah” with the theme “Wild Kingdom”…I picked out bright greens, yellows and a simply gorgeous deep orange to model the colors for my printable designs. Using silhouette animals and these colors, I brought the wild kingdom theme to life by incorporating unique shadowed animal effects, fun “leaf” prints for the table cloth, and themed to match party favors. I also used modern style animal prints like Zebra, giraffe, as well as cheetah as well! Party Favors included “Animal observer” binoculars, zebra and leopard print take home bags, coloring pages, as well as themed animal print pencils to draw with! Jungle foods: Rhino grub (which had tropical fruit powdered sugar, as well as jungle worms) Panda cookies, Gazelle (5 flavor) Drink, and a cake designed by Savannahs talented mother! Games: We enjoyed Madagascar, played the template EBK games I created, and colored pictures! Everyone was able to stick little jungle creatures onto their EBK party hats! So much fun creating this party, can’t wait to do another one!” Vendor Credits: Creative design, printables, party hats, tablescape, party favors & décor- Events by Kate Event Photography- De nijs Photography Items used in this party that are available in Kara’s Party Ideas Shop: Jute Twine Jungle Ribbon

Vintage Polka Dot Zoo Party

My next party feature goes to this darling VINTAGE POLKA DOT ZOO BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Anneliese Shapiro of Aesthetic Nest. HOW FUN! I love the little zoo animals. The color scheme of coral, grey, yellow, rickrack, and polka dots is so cute, too. What child doesn’t love the zoo? This would be the perfect party theme for a girl or a boy.
Here is what Anneliese said about the party- “I really appreciate the ability to take my girls and show them a tiger or a penguin or a bear without having to journey and see them in the wild. And I love thinking about zoos a century or so ago–so exotic! Such an outing. I love their park-like settings and wrought iron and imagine the excitement of the visitors when they saw wild animals.
So this birthday party was all about the zoo of yesteryear with happy children and happy, nearly domesticated wild animals. I incorporated polka dots and rick rack to add more of the lighthearted, vintage feel.
We started in our backyard with a lunch. I set some tables with white pleated tablecloths that have convertible inserts in yellow and grey polka dots (pattern coming soon). I love this striped fabric (Premier Prints Lulu Stripe)!  I added another tablecloth for the serving table sewn from Michael Miller Ta-Dot in Stone and trimmed in grey jumbo rickrack.
The girls’ places were set with the vintage zoo Rickrack Place mats and Napkins and these great aluminum camping plates. I love the brushed metal, also on the galvanized French flower pots from IKEA. And who can resist the striped paper straws. I also used them on the birthday cake to make flag poles for the animals.
After lunch, it was off to the zoo! Quite an outing with seven little girls and two adults (thank you, Sue!) but we didn’t even lose one!  And no animals escaped, either.
It was fun to see Audrey and Scarlett running around in their Vintage Zoo Dress and Dirndl Skirt, respectively. And there are always the ideas I didn’t get to trailing after them in my head!”
