Here’s what Emily said about planning the party- “Ariella is our little winter baby, with her birthday falling in the first week of January. Even though we live in Los Angeles and it’s not technically freezing over here, I still loved the idea of making a ‘winter wonderland’ themed 1st birthday party for her. I’d seen quite a few winter wonderland parties floating around on the web, but I didn’t want recreate those typical winter parties with penguins, polar bears, and igloos. Instead, I had the idea in my head for a rustic/shabby chic winter wonderland party that still had the winter feel, but was a bit more girly & sophisticated. Just like our little girl! I was drawn to lots of burlap, lace, jute twine, and birch, and I mixed those elements with crocheted snowflakes, snow covered manzanita branches, and blush & cream colored roses.”

Winter Wonderland 1st Birthday Party

Such a beautiful WINTER WONDERLAND FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Kristin Austin of Paige Simple Studio! I just love all the gorgeous details and soft colors! So many darling ideas here…

Kristin said this about planning the party- “This party was styled for a friend whose daughter turned 1 in December. Every little detail was planned to fit within the winter theme right down to the editable hanging snowflake cookies! Each food item was ‘winterized’; there was snow on all of the tables and snowflakes everywhere you looked. I’ve seen many winter wonderland parties use pink and aqua, but very few incorporate lavender. Every little girl needs a touch of purple at her party!

Details of the party included hot chocolate cup cozies made from cable knit sweater sleeves, a painted canvas back drop featuring white vinyl snowflake decals, white branches adorned with shimmering snowflake cookies, giant chocolate covered marshmallows, crystallized glass milk bottles, and shimmer snowflake fondant cupcake toppers.”

Flannel and Frost 1st Birthday Party

This creative FLANNEL & FROST FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Heidi Wight of Ira And Lucy. What an adorable and original party theme with so many cute ideas!

Heidi said this about planning the party- “This is my son’s, Jagger’s, 1st Birthday that we had on the 29th of December. He’s an almost-Christmas-baby, with his birthday landing on the 27th, so I wanted to make sure it was still special and that it was not Christmas-y. For winter babies, especially boys, all I kept seeing were different versions of a winter wonderland or “one”derland. So, I mixed it up a bit and did “Jagger’s Flannel & Frost 1st Birthday” where everyone was invited to wear their favorite flannel to the party.

I designed the invitation with a blue plaid/flannel background with chalkboard styled writing and a vintage fawn found from searching old vintage birthday cards. I love how it all came together! I framed one of the invites to feature on the dessert table.

I handmade my own white tissue poms in different sizes to hang above the table as a way of making it feel more festive and wintery. My DIY frosty branches we cut from trees Jagger’s grandparent’s farm. It was quite the glittery glue adventure! We mixed epsom salt, course and fine glitter with a high quality fake snow blend from Hobby Lobby. We then hand painted glue onto the branches and sprinkled the snow mixture onto the branches. They turned out gorgeous! I used the same snow mixture on cinnamon scented pine cones and placed them around for decor. Votives we have for home decor got the same treatment, except instead of glue I painted on soap. The snow sticks to the wet soap and it’s removable later!

The dessert table along with the hot cocoa bar were spruced up a bit using some of my business’s (Ira & Lucy Vintage Rentals & Styling) props. I love the vintage blue suitcase and the tarnished silver accents! I put up Jagger’s grandpop’s old wooden skis next to the table and had the front porch decorated with an antique sled and ice skates. It gave it that chilly wintery feel. You’ll also see the vintage tennis shoes placed near the cake – those were my husband’s when he was a little boy! Of course, I couldn’t go without paper striped straws and some old mason jars!

Jagger’s cake was simple – I wanted to get a cute little fancy one, but found that I really wanted to make his first birthday cake for sentimental reasons. I love how it looked on the vanity mirror tray. I’m no baker…so I utilized pinterest and found recipes I knew I can managed! The snow ball cupcakes were the most fun to make! I kept the rest of the food items all in the neutral white tones to match the decor and theme.

Since it was a 1st Birthday Party, our guests were mostly adults, so we made the festivities a bit more “spirited” with adding some mixers to our hot cocoa bar. Guests could blend their own cocoa to their specific enjoyment. It was a lot of fun!”

Snowman Themed 5th Birthday Party

This darling SNOWMAN THEMED FIFTH BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Dunja Moralić of wunderschoen-gemacht! I just love all the glitter and homemade snowmen!

This is what Dunja said about planning the party- “This was the party I did for my sweet daughter for her 5th birthday celebration. She loves the snow so much. The sweet-glittery snowman cards were used as invitations to the guests with glittery confetti snow and ice crystals filling the transparent envelopes.

To decorate the table I used the infinite design possibilities of our metal chandelier: with punched out and then stitched chains, glittering confetti, and improvised snowmen the chandelier became really wintry. The snowmen I discovered accidentally in the DIY store. Magnificent! The silvery  bodies fit perfectly with the color concept. Only the hideous nose and buttons I had to remove and replace them with pretty accessories: star sequins, party glam, buttons, feathers, ribbons, …. oh, that was a fun :-)

Everyone got a photo snow globe as their place card at the table, with a day and night side. I used the same template as the snowmen for the invitations. At the end of the party each child replaced the photo with their own portrait. (Using the photos taken during the party… there were beaming faces: beautiful!)”

Winter Princess Birthday Party

This WINTER PRINCESS BIRTHDAY PARTY by Eleanor Touchet of Pink Peppermint Paper, LLC will make your heart melt. Such a beautiful and delicate party. I just love the soft cotton snow…and look at the vintage princess doll & the victorian ice skates inside the apothecary jars. What a perfect party for winter birthday’s. I love the theme! Here is what Eleanor said about the party- “For my daughter’s 3rd birthday we combined two of her favorite things, princesses and snow, for a Winter Princess celebration. We hand delivered the majority of the glitter-embellished invitations so I got a little playful with addressing them. There were Ladies, Dukes and even Barons on the invitation list. Guests were welcomed inside the castle to find the royal banquet table stretched out underneath a sky of falling snow. We had fur-trimmed snowflake crowns for the boys and tiaras for the girls. The birthday girl’s throne at the head of the table was all wrapped up in a bow and set off with her royal portrait.
Laid out on a blanket of snow down the center of the table were snow globes filled with a different royal and snowy scenes–a royal princess, a crown, a snowy church, a silver slipper, and a Victorian ice skate among others.
Since it was a surprisingly mild day we set up a play table of artificial snow outside. We had a few scoops and buckets and the kids enjoyed a rare chance to play in the snow! Then everyone headed back inside for cake. As party favors, everyone got snow powder so they could make their own snow at home. We had a high time in the snow for our little winter birthday girl’s celebration!”Vendors:Invitations, Paper Crowns, Cup Wraps, Favor Tags – Pink Peppermint Paper Party Styling – Pink Peppermint Parties Cake – Dream Cakes Large/Small Ripple Cups, Clear Favor Boxes – Think Garnish Artificial Snow – Snow in Seconds
