This is what Sarah said about planning the party- “Every woman loves a beautiful High Tea. It’s an opportunity to indulge in conversation and delectable food with a touch of the femme. When I was asked to organise and style a High Tea for 50 women of all ages, I was super excited as it was my first High Tea. I came up with a vintage inspired theme with a pastel flavour and straight away I started dreaming of pastels in all their varieties. It consumed me and I loved every minute of it! A few of the ladies wanted to bring food for the dessert table, so I selected some lovely homemade treats for them to cook that would fit with the theme, and it worked out so beautifully that it was a sensory overload of magnificence (even though I am prone to exaggeration at times, I really mean it)!! The desserts included everything from Australian lamingtons, caramel & raspberry cheesecakes, butterfly cupcakes, rosewater meringue’s with Persian fairy floss, peppermint crisp cheesecakes for a pop of green, white chocolate coated peanut butter balls (yummo), butterfly cookies hanging beautifully in a cage, Ivory Ruffle Cake with pink gradient mud cake inside, incredible teapot cookies, and so much more. They were all divine. A few of the ladies who helped with the baking are so incredibly talented that I continue to use them for many of my dessert buffets!

For some of the accessories and backdrops, I was lucky enough that a friend of mine was throwing out her old vintage tea sets, curtains (which I used for the backdrop of the main dessert table), sewing sets, doilies, even a cupboard and chairs. I embraced all of this for the styling of the party, and it was perfect! It was a truly beautiful party, which was topped off by an 78 year old lady coming up to me at the end and telling me it was the best day of her life!”

Vintage Sewing 7th Birthday Party!

Today’s winning party feature goes to this darling VINTAGE SEWING BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Pure Joy Events. Christine’s daughter, Kate became hooked on sewing after receiving a sewing kit and toy sewing machine from Santa. A few weeks later…she asked for a sewing birthday party. What a cute theme! Heather Bailey’s Nicey Jane fabric collection became the inspiration for the party. On the day of the party, the children’s playroom was transformed into a sewing room, complete with a vintage rotary sewing machine, vintage spools of thread and hand-made pin cushions. Christine created a simple backdrop by stretching fabric on embroidery hoops of various sizes and hanging them on a giant cork board. Vintage blue mason jars holding fresh flowers were placed on each of the tables, and DIY ruffled fabric garlands {tutorial here} were draped across chair backs. Sewing themed desserts included a sewing basket cake by PhoebeCakes, spool of thread cape pops {tutorial found here}, and sugar cookies by JP Creatibles.
For one activity, the girls used embroidery thread to stitch their first initial and a flower onto eco-felt that was stretched over a hoop {you can purchase this craft kit here}…
The girls guessed the number of buttons in a jar {answer was 157} and played a few rounds of “hoop toss”…
Beautifully sewn pencil pouches by Bagel Creations and hand-crafted button cards were give to guests as they left the party…
