This is what Michelle said about planning the party- “Avery’s 4th birthday was so fun to plan! It centered around a round orange stuffed cat from IKEA known in our household as ‘catball’. Avery has had a brood of catballs since she was one that she plays with, sleeps with, etc. Basically, they’re her favorite creatures amongst her entire menagerie of stuffed animals. The party colors were mostly oranges with various shades of blue worked in here and there. On the menu were mini vanilla cupcakes from Susiecakes, mini orange-glazed donuts from a local shop called Fill in the Hole Donuts and lollies made with kettle-cooked jellies from Trader Joe’s (these were a clear winner at Avery’s 2nd birthday party).

The orange circle garland is from one of our favorite children’s retailers, Land of Nod. It’s made of felt and can definitely be used over and over again. Avery’s beloved catballs are wearing party hats made with Paper Source prints using an easy template thanks to Lavender’s Blue. Avery also has a deep love of balloons, so I ordered a 36″ round citrus orange balloon from Shop Sweet Lulu and had it blown up at our local Party City. We had a candy necklace-making station with gummy Lifesavers and Cheerios, inspired by an idea in the book “Candy Making for Kids“.

Last but not least, little pom poms were tucked away in tiny orange chevron little bitty bags, made by Whisker Graphics and purchased from Shop Sweet Lulu. Avery is really into pom poms and little things that she can collect and carry around at the moment. It was a wonderful celebration that marked an important birthday. Happy birthday, Avery!”

Here’s what Rachel said about planning this party- “When we think of traditional birthday parties–balloons and crepe paper are the first thing that comes to mind. Our goal was to take traditional birthday party elements and use them in a fun and modern way! This party was for a very special girl turning TWO! When planning the party, I wanted the house to be filled with something she’d recognize and love–and what little kid doesn’t love balloons?!

I found so many cute types of crepe paper I didn’t know what to do with it all!  I loved the impact the ruffled crepe paper had behind the dessert table–so bright!  I wove plain crepe paper together for a pop of color on the white table cloth.  And the Italian Crepe Paper was a fun alternative to a table cloth–it really brightened the room!

There was no shortage of balloons at the party–we loved the big balloons on either side of our dessert table and filled the ceiling with as many as we could! The balloon wreath was a great way to welcome guests to the party and set the tone for the event. And the crepe fringe was a fun way to string our polka dot balloons around the room!

The kids kept busy playing with small dart balloons and enjoying the balloon animals made by our resident balloon artist (the birthday girl’s dad!).

We had so many delicious and adorable treats for the guests to munch on–chocolate covered popcorn, dipped marshmallows, gorgeous sugar cookies and Pop Rock cupcakes! We tried to keep the food “light” or “POP” related. (A little note on the cupcakes–the Pop Rocks can’t be put on until right before the party or they will all pop and melt!)  Our other favorite treats were Pop Tart Pops and Balloon Pops–both were big hits and tied in our party theme and colors well. Guests took home a bag of homemade gumdrops and some bubbles to pop later–plus, as many balloons as they could bear to take!
It was such a fun theme for a kids birthday party–everyone had a blast.”

Ball Themed 2nd Birthday Party

How fun is this BALL THEMED 2ND BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Cindi Landers! Such a cute theme, and SO perfect for a toddler!! I just love all the ideas here.

Cindi said this about planning the party- “Balls are all the rage for my son, so I ran with that as the theme for his birthday party. I spent hours and hours coordinating the decor and food. The idea of the backdrop was borrowed from a “Go Bananas” party featured on KPI. All of the decor was put together using craft supplies from several local stores by me including the banner, cupcake wrappers and tags that say two, Happy Birthday Parker, etc., but I have to give credit to Swanky Press for the invitations and a local bakery called Mary’s Cakes and Pastries for the cookies. Clipart used for the party tags was purchased via Etsy from BaBaPuffBaby. I put them in Photoshop and designed the tags myself, then had them printed at a local printing company.”
