This is what Dona said about planning the party- “I had so much fun planning my son’s 4th birthday party. It was a basketball themed party for the biggest little basketball fan that I know. From the tablescape and sweets, to the decorations and favors, to the ultimate Basketball Junior World Sports Games jumper, the party was truly a SLAM DUNK! In planning the party, I started with my email invitation from RedCappi that I designed myself with our event details in the party scheme colors. On the party day-of, I adorned the table with a Party City NBA Spaulding tablecloth, and draped a second tablecloth on the back wall of my kitchen to create a backdrop and an awesome photo opportunity. The dessert table featured delicious handmade goodies by KK’s Bakeshop, including cupcakes, cookies and chocolate covered Oreos. All the sweets and desserts were featured on cake stands and serving plates onto which I had glued coordinating basketball-language for a really cute overall display. I even found basketball themed Arizona Kidz Iced Tea at Dollar Tree. I kept it simple and placed the party favors right on top of the table and invited all to help themselves to their choice of mini plastic basketballs from Target, wooden basketball peg games from Dollar Tree and Basketball Nightlights from the 99 Cent Only Store. I added matching colorful balloons arranged in clusters up top of the photo backdrop to give us a home win. Outside, we held a slam dunk contest. The kids and adults alike had a blast with the Junior World Sports Jumper I ordered from Party On Rentals, which featured five popular sports activities (including basketball) all under one inflatable play structure. It was so much fun! Oh, and of course no party would be complete without the right attire, so the birthday boy wore a $5 Basketball long sleeve T-shirt from Target, with neon green jeans from The Gap. For my daughter, I just purchased a smaller size of the same shirt from Target, with a coordinating neon green tutu from The Gap. It was totally perfect!”

Preppy Golf Themed Baby Shower

This PREPPY GOLF THEMED BABY SHOWER was submitted by Heather of Heather Carpenter Photography. I love that the parents-to-be met playing golf in college, making this the perfect theme to celebrate their baby. This theme is such a fun and unique alternative to a Little Man or Guy in a Tie party.

Some of my favorite elements about this golf themed baby shower are:
The baby golfer cake topper The baby onesie banner The baby caddy and plaid cookies The popcorn boxes cut to serve as fry boxes and MORE!

This is what Heather said about planning the party- “I was SO happy to help host a shower for my husband’s life-long best friend, Mark and his wife, Amber. These two lovebirds met in college while they were each playing on the men & women’s golf teams there. Even though our group of friends are all grown up now – many married with children- golf still is a HUGE part of all of our lives. After all, it’s what brought us all together! There’s no doubt in my mind that the next generation will be playing it together as well! That said, we thought it would be incredibly fitting to design a preppy golf-themed baby shower for little Cooper! We absolutely LOVED all the little golf-motif details we put into it!

For the decor, we used plain white table cloths with green astroturf runners to resemble the golf course greens. We accented the tables with blue, white and green hydrangeas that we put in clear vases filled with golf balls and water. We strung a navy blue and green bunting banner as well as twelve baby onesies on a clothes line. We gave the onesies to the couple after the shower, so they can photograph baby Cooper each month of his first year!

We had a “19th Hole”, which in golf terminology means “the bar”. We gave the drinks fitting names like “Water Hazards” & “Sweet Tee” to drink, as well as providing the supplies needed to make a refreshing Arnold Palmer or a Club Special. We even framed the recipes for those who wanted to play bartender themselves. For kiddos (including the kids-at-heart and the just plain curious), we served blue bubblegum bottled sodas.

For lunch, since it was an afternoon shower, we had “Club” Sandwiches and “Chip In” potato chips. For dessert, we had a two-tier cake with our navy and green argyle pattern on it. The top of the cake was a golf ball with baby Cooper sleeping on top. We also had argyle monogramed and golfer onesie cookies.

For the party favors, we made the Chex® Muddy Buddies (puppy chow) recipe because it’s one of the boys’ favorite snacks! We packaged them in clear cello bags tied with ribbon and served them in white popcorn boxes (cut out to look like fry boxes). The boxes were labeled “Mark’s Mud Ball Mix”. However, these “mud balls” weren’t the dreadful kind on the course that Tiger Woods’ made famous, they were fun & delicious!”

Jason said this about planning the party- “Our party is full of DIY projects, some fabulous recipes including one for Cheddar, Beer & Bacon Cupcakes (we call it The Cupcake for Men), and a great source for giant balloons and balloon tassels.

PRINTABLES:
This party is chock full of Vintage Football Party goodness, including the FOOTBALL PRINTABLE PARTY DECORATIONS. We were inspired by a vintage early 20th century era of football for this design, incorporating aged paper textures and simple stripes along with a collegiate font look and vintage football art. The scoreboard is also reminiscent of a by-gone era, where actual number cards were placed for each point in the game. Pennant banners were big back then and still are to an extent today, so we included a vintage felt texture on our large pennant banner and small pennant flags to give it a true to life feel.

FOOD:
Be sure to include the CUPCAKES FOR MEN on your party table, a moist delicious treat that will please everyone. Ingredients include: BEER, CHEESE & BACON. What more could you want in a cupcake really? If you feel bit nervous about a cupcake that includes beer and cheddar cheese (I was at first) let me put your mind at ease. These are still sweet just like any other cake, and the beer in the buttercream is the perfect touch. Use your favorite beer and get creative with specialty cheeses too, you could make these cupcakes something simple or super gourmet.

Recipes pictured include: Kickin’ Hot BUFFALO CHICKEN Cups and Off-Sides HAM & SWISS SLIDERS. These are both mouth-watering delicious recipes, and we were very pleased with the results! A big thank you to GIMME SOME OVEN and THE GIRL WHO ATE EVERYTHING for providing the perfect recipes. Store bought treats include: French Fries , Bottle Water (Our Referees), Pork Rinds (Pig Skins), Yogurt Covered Pretzels (Laces), Licorice (Black Eye Paint). You can of course add your favorite party treats to the mix, but these were the ones we felt best represented our creative football themed names!

PROPS:
We created a few props for this party that really pulled everything together including a football field table cover, goal posts and bleachers. This really made the look of a football field complete. Step-by-step DIY projects linked: FOOTBALL FIELD TABLE COVER & FOOTBALL PARTY BLEACHERS DISPLAY.

The balloons and tassels were the final addition to our look, representing the cheering crowd waving their poms in a abstract sort of way. The tassels were spot on perfect for this theme and the large balloons were so fun and really stood out nicely against the brick wall background.”

Oregon Ducks Themed Birthday Party

Check out this awesome OREGON DUCKS THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Lauren Borquez of Capes and Crowns! Such a fun and original party theme! A lot of sports themed party ideas here!

Lauren said this about planning the party- “My husband was born and raised in Portland Oregon so even though we live in my home state of Alabama we are HUGE Ducks fans! I had a terrific time putting together his Oregon themed dessert table this year. With the obvious green and yellow color a must, O’s couldn’t be left out either. I decided on a green and yellow paper chain backdrop and also included classic football elements where I could. One of my favorite details was Puddles (the mascot) playing a heavy role in the decor. He’s such a fan favorite and our little ones really enjoyed him being a part of their Daddy’s celebration. Danielle McCann captured all the details of our day and a wonderful crew of talented vendors, many of whom are from Oregon themselves made this day even more special!”

Vintage Boxing 84th Birthday Party

Now THIS is a party to remember! How awesome is this VINTAGE BOXING 84TH BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Lauren Borquez of Capes and Crowns! What a fun and original party theme…especially for Lauren’s grandfather! I love it.

Lauren said- “I’m so excited to share my grandfather’s vintage boxing theme party. He was a former boxer so this was the perfect way to honor him and the sport he loves. I’ve been collecting vintage boxing memorabilia for months and each piece I found has such a special relevance that this party really came together in a “meant to be” sort of way and has a world of sentiment for my family and I. My grandfather’s old boxing name was Thomas “The Tomcat” Laster. I knew that I wanted to incorporate cats in small ways thru out the theme. I found some adorable magnets with boxing cats on them as well as a vintage boxing glove from a fabric transfer I’d ordered and knew I wanted both elements to be part of the theme. Miranda at Whimsical Printables was so wonderful to work with on the printables. She took the project on last minute and really showed out. They were far better than I could have ever envisioned and really brought the this party to life. There were lots of behind the scene challenges and obstacles with this event. My grandmother had a stroke a month prior to this event so its been a difficult time for both my grandparents. I still wanted to celebrate this great man on his birthday and it seemed highly appropriate because he truly is such a “fighter”

I asked Natalie of The Knock Knock Factory to make one of her charming wreaths. She never disappoints. The only details told to her was “vintage boxing” and she did such a fabulous job! The menu consisted of my grandfathers favorite foods. My husband is an amateur MMA fighter so I had a little help naming the food using boxing terms. It was lots of fun. We served old fashion cream sodas appropriately labeled “Poppa’s punch”. For the dessert table I wanted to incorporate vintage boxing magazines so I decoupaged the covers of the popular magazine The Ring on the backdrop. The beautiful desserts were made by Hot Momma’s bakery. I wanted stars to be present on the KO Cake to give it that “seeing stars” effect but I wanted the cake itself to have a vintage feel. She executed it perfectly! The guest of honor had a wonderful time and even at 84 he’s still a knockout!”
