This creative NOAH’S ARK THEMED TWINS BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Kelly Little.
I love the idea of throwing a gender neutral Noah’s Ark party for twins and focusing on the animals that went “two by two” (just like twins) as well as the vibrant colors of the rainbow. What a fun party!

A few of the highlights to look for are:
  • The watermelon carved into the shape of an ark and used to serve fruit
  • The Noah’s Ark themed cake, complete with animals and, of course, an ark
  • The birthday girl’s rainbow fabric strip and ribbon skirt
  • The ark shaped felt favor / activity bags filled with felt finger puppet animals
  • and MORE!

Here’s what Kelly said about planning the party- “What better theme for twins turning 2 than a 2×2 Party? It’s always a challenge to find fun gender-neutral party themes, so I thought a Noah’s Ark Party was the perfect way for my little boy and girl to celebrate their birthday together! Also, I loved all the fun rainbow party inspiration I had been seeing, so this was a great way to bring together my love for bright colors and my twins’ love of animals!

The centerpiece of the party was the “Taste the Rainbow” treat table including Rainbow Dipped Oreos & Pretzel Twigs, Marshmallow Lollipops with Rainbow Sprinkles, and Rainbow Licorice. And I absolutely adored the gorgeous Noah’s Ark cake from Elizabeth’s Cakes.

Other details included an ark made from watermelon (which served as a fruit bowl and was surprisingly easy to make!), felt ark gift bags with pairs of animal finger puppets for party favors, and a wooden ark bean bag toss that my husband and I made together.

Of course the main attraction was the adorable petting zoo of baby animals from Cathy’s Critters. We had quite a large age range of kids at the party, and the animals were a huge hit with them all!”

This is what Kenna said about planning the party- “I put together this St. Patrick’s Day party for my kids and their friends because I loved the idea of doing a ‘Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow’ theme. As usual, I was assisted by my good friend Hannah of Hannah’s Cookies and Treats with the baking and set up. We focused on kid friendly desserts and party favors for our table. Hannah made a 3 tier green ombre shamrock cake out of a heart cookie cutter and using the left over scraps created the stem. She also came up with the fun idea for green Hostess cupcakes- which turned out so adorable. Her pot of gold sugar cookies were topped with gold shimmery sprinkles. I made cupcakes in 3 colors of green and we decked them out with colored candy and gold coins. For the light green cupcakes I made felt bow tie cake toppers which were inexpensive and easy to make! I used free printables for every graphic on the table. The “LUCKY” sign on the front of the table was a free download from The TomKat Studio via HGTV. I sprayed it with gold glitter and backed it with a rainbow fabric that was going the opposite way of the rainbow table cloth- so it really popped! The square chevron labels on the coloring buckets are courtesy of another free printable from Dimpleprints. The “You’re my Lucky Charm” mini banner on the “leprechaun trail mix” is a free printable from Kara’s Party Ideas, I shrunk it down to meet my needs. For the mini buckets I spray painted them gold and printed out St. Patrick’s Day coloring pages online and made little mini coloring books for the kids. I put rainbow colored crayons on the front of the buckets and tied them on with twine. I topped almost everything off with light and dark green stacked shamrock foam stickers found in March at every craft store for $1 a pack. I even decorated the green soda bottles with free printables from Love The Day. The leprechaun trail mix were put inside large ketchup cups found at most $1 stores. I used rainbow ribbon to create a rainbow above the trail mix and good ol’ cotton balls for the clouds on the sides- the kids loved these! The mason jars had green colored milk inside and were dipped in a lighter green melting chocolate and then rolled in sugar sprinkles. We baked mini green cupcakes and put them through our green paper straws and topped them off with a leprechaun Lucky Charm marshmallow or a rainbow one- another hit with the kids! The push pops were made with a new mini push pop pan I purchased which made them a lot easier to make then slicing mini cupcakes. I was able to fit all over the colors of the rainbow in this way because of how thin they were. We topped them off with a shamrock clad rolo! The green shamrock chocolate pops were made with a shamrock candy mold. We painted edible gold shimmer on each of them and I put the rainbow ribbon flag on each with a little wire sandwiched in between so I could make them “wavey”. Surrounding the shamrock pops were our jello mugs! Hannah and I joked about finding mini beer jugs to put green (non-alcoholic!) jello in and sure enough a day later Hannah found them. The kids had a blast and we’re all still recovering from a day of desserts! Happy St. Patrick’s Day 2013 from Miss Party Mom!”

This is what Lauren said about planning the party- “St Patrick’s Day is of no specific significance in our home (we aren’t Irish) other than I think its a fun holiday! I wanted to put together a festive little budget friendly dessert table to celebrate. It was extremely easy, tons of fun and best of all cost under $50 to create. I managed to coordinate the details and get some wonderful vendors on board in less then a week. I hit the ground running with my primary focus being shamrocks. I find them to be the most whimsical element associated with St. Patrick’s Day. Lauren Haddox worked up the adorable printables for the set up. How Sweet it is worked her cookie magic and Tunky Monkey’s Sweet Treats sent me the some amazing goodies to coordinate with the theme. Everything came together nicely and Danielle McCann Photography captured all the details. It was a fun challenge and the end result proves that you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a creative, holiday inspired dessert table!”
