Ninjago Ninja 7th Birthday Party

This fun NINJAGO NINJA 7TH BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Anders Ruff. The creativity of these ladies always kills me! Such a great party with so many awesome ideas!! WOW! Maureen said- “My son loves Lego Ninjago (as do most 7 year olds!) so we went with a Ninja style party and created an Asian environment by pulling in traditional elements.  I designed a brand new ninja invitation and ninja complete printable package for our shop and used all of the printables throughout the party. I bought real bamboo shoots with the leaves on and adorned the entrance and dessert table.  Paper lanterns (from Paper Lantern Store) of all different sizes were hung over the entrance as well as over the seating area. Inspired by our clients in Dubai, Me&Riley, and their floor seating ideas, we set up a long table using Ikea Red Lacquer tables.  I added a DIY bamboo runner down the table. (I got $1 store bamboo place mats and connected them together with some white thread).  Lucky Bamboo shoots were displayed in the center along the table in vases with rocks.  Each place setting had a black lacquer plate, red small plate and a Chinese take out container with their lunch inside.  Chopsticks were labeled with our printable and placed on top.  An “enjoy” hang tag printable adorned the Chinese take-out boxes.  A small ceramic white dish was beside the plates and it held a single piece of candy sushi on a patterned paper lining.  Beverages were displayed in plastic bottles (from I’m With Cupcake) and adorned with a printable drink wrap and paper straw.  Ikea pillows were placed on the floor for the children to kneel on as they ate.  Rice Paper traditional Chinese room dividing screens were placed around the room. DESSERT TABLE

A Chinese screen was used as the backdrop for our dessert table.  Bamboo elements were carried in again by sticking shoots out of large black vases.  Rocks filled the vases to keep the bamboo in place.  Paper lanterns were hung from the ceiling. I scoured Ikea looking for dessert display pieces that felt “Asian”.  I ended up with bamboo looking bath organizing caddy’s that I stacked together to use as the tiered dessert trays in the middle of the table.  A fabulous Cake from Got What It Cakes was the centerpiece and had ninja stars sticking out of the sides.   Fabulous cookies from Whip It Good Cookies were placed on smaller black glass stands in the center of the table. (Tip: We propped them up with small meringues so you could see them instead of laying them flat on the stands) The second tier held ceramic black/white vessels from Ikea and cupcakes with origami DIY ninja star toppers that we made out of our printable patterned papers.  They were wrapped with cupcake wrappers from Bella Cupcake Couture. The bottom level had Chinese tasting spoons with red sprinkles and a ninja star cake pop from Pop A Razzi.  Red Chinese take-out containers were filled with rice cracker mix from Oh!Nuts and labeled with our printables. Vessels were filled with cookies that had an adorable red/white dot/line pattern (reminded me of lanterns) from Sweeties by Kim.  We lined trays with our patterned papers and put green jelly beans (edamame) in clear fun shot glasses with some green sushi grass and labeled them with a printable “edamame” flag. I made candy sushi and packaged it in an adorable clear candy container from Nashville Wraps.  I lined the bottom with our printable patterned paper underneath the container to add interest.  I used rice krispies, marshmallows, Swedish fish, gummy green/white rings (to resemble cucumber), starburst and airheads (to resemble the fish) and orange sprinkles (to resemble roe).  I made green meringues that represented the wasabi and used peach tinted fondant for the ginger.  I separated the sides with some green sushi grass (like you see in real sushi take-out containers!).  We tied them up cute with twine (The Twinery) and a printable favor tag.

CANDY “TAKE-OUT” STATION

Our printable dragon poster was used as the backdrop (only $5 to print!) for our Candy Take-Out.  The idea here was to have the children fill their little chinese take-out containers with candy.  A red Asian runner from A to Zebra Celebrations was used on the black lacquer furniture.  We filled vertical rectangular vessels with various candies (Oh!Nuts).  Cookies from Whip It Good Cookies were adorned with printable party flags and stuck out of the vessels.  Also, homemade lollipops from This Charming Candy were flagged and stuck out of the vessels.  Cake pops from Pop A Razzi were flagged and placed on white ceramic tasting spoons and placed on a wooden sushi board. We adorned the front of the buffet with a Ninja Star shaped printable banner.  (Available in our shop).  It read “Candy Take-Out” and the boys loved it!

FAVOR TABLE

A printable patterned poster was used for the backdrop and a red lantern was hung over top the favor table.  We used a bookshelf that we lined with red wrapping paper for the table.  Large Chinese take-out containers (Nashville Wraps) were tagged with our printable laminated favor hang tag (the kids can use these later for luggage tags/school bag tags!). The children would use these at the end of the party to get their favors. Printable Ninjago Coloring books were “bound” with twine and the kids could take the coloring book and some lego shaped crayons (from Posh Paper Creations).  The coloring books were displayed in bamboo boxes from Ikea.  The other side had a bamboo box with small Lego Ninjago sets that the children could take home.  They also got a lego man shaped soap (from Favors by Angelique)  Cake pops from Pop A Razzi were placed in the red lacquer bowls.   Sugar cookies were displayed on bamboo soap dishes as well as circular rice krispie treats.  The rice krispie treats were topped with adorable fondant toppers that Two Sugar Babies made using our custom printables and their fondant Lego brick shape.”

ACTIVITIES & GAMES When the kids arrived, they received a personalized dragon shirt with their name and a ninja star on the backside and a ninja headband (from Made by Morgan). I bought some fake Chinese money at our local Asian grocery store.  My kids love fake money so we decided to use this to give the kids who won the games during the party. At the end of the party, they would “Buy” candy from the Candy Take-Out station and the favor table. (Really they just got to take whatever they wanted and keep the fake Asian money). The main activity was the Lego Ninjago Battle.  My son, Jeffrey, has tons of Lego Ninjago spinners and weapons so we set those out and the children got to battle with each other.  We bought the arena at the local Lego Store and we kept track of points for each battle.  This kept them entertained for awhile! The first game was our “Fortune Cookie Toss”.  We printed 3, 5, 7 point logos and placed them on the Chinese take-out containers that we hung from the Chinese folding screen.  They were left open so that the children had to try and toss the cookie into the containers. The children received points for each cookie they got in the container. The second game was a “Ninja Star Throwing” Game.  I bought rubber ninja “shuriken” stars online and they are safe but do stick into styrofoam.  I used a printable poster with a giant ninja star and 7 in the center.  The kids got 4 stars to throw.  For each one they got in the board, they got a point.  If they hit the 7, they got 7 points.  The boys LOVED this game. The third activity was origami star making. I printed out patterned paper from our printable ninja collection on copy paper and taught the kids how to make origami ninja stars.  (These are what I hot glued to lolli sticks and stuck into the cupcakes on the dessert table). We had a custom pinata (by Partylicious) made for the party. The little ninjas used bamboo sticks to take their hits at the pinata. The children had a blast and didn’t want to leave!  This theme is great for a regular Ninja party or a Lego Ninjago party! The Ninja Invitation Printable and all Coordinating Printable Ninja Designs shown in this party is available for sale in our shop.

Lego Themed 5th Birthday Party

I hope you love this LEGO THEMED 5TH BIRTHDAY PARTY, submitted by Sarah Epstein of Crackers Art, as much as I do! Everything is just adorable. So many clever elements! Here is what Sarah had to say about the party– “When I asked my son Harvey what theme he wanted for his upcoming 5th birthday party, he jumped at the chance of having a Lego-inspired party before his big brother stole the theme for his own party next month.I did a little happy dance because I’ve been dying to create a Lego-inspired party. But I also wanted to put a unique spin on it. I’ve seen some fabulous Lego parties on the web, but I wanted ours to reflect everything my boys love about Lego. And I wanted lots and lots of in-your-face colour – no shrinking violets here! I designed all of the party printables and then tied in all of the food into the same colour scheme. There were two separate tables – the dessert buffet, and a smaller snack table which I directed the kids to first so they could eat something other than sugar. They also had a sit-down lunch of savoury yummies before it was time to hit the desserts. I usually attempt the cake and biscuits myself, but this time around I enlisted the skills of the awesomely-talented Lisa from ‘Cakes & Biscuits By Lisa’. And I’m so glad I did – they turned out perfectly and exactly as I had pictured. And what’s a party without some games? As well as a ‘Draw Your Own Lego Character’ colouring competition, we also had a ‘Pin the Brick in the Wall’ game (our Lego version of ‘Pin the Tail on the Donkey’), free-range Lego on the lounge-room rug, and some Lego tower-building races. I also created all the graphics for the games, which I just kept simple and effective. From all reports, everyone had a great time and the birthday boy loved every minute!” Vendor Credits: Party Styling and Food – Crackers Art Party Printables – Crackers Art Lego Birthday Cake – Cakes & Biscuits By Lisa Lego Cookies – Cakes & Biscuits By Lisa Photography – Crackers Art

Star Wars, Lego Birthday Party

You’re going to LOVE these two STAR WARS BIRTHDAY PARTIES I’m featuring today! The first one is a super fun Star Wars Lego Party submitted by Christine Kantaporn of Pure Joy Events, and the next one is a Star Wars Dessert table submitted by Liebesbotschaft {from Germany}. Starting with the lego themed Star Wars party, here is what the talented Christine had to say about it– “A few weeks ago in a galaxy far, far away, 15 Rebel troopers joined forces to celebrate Jedi Camden’s 5th birthday. Everything from the cake to the decorations was inspired by the comic strip invitation booklet that was brilliantly designed by my friend, Melanie of ewehooo. The sunburst motif and gray and orange colors from the invitation were carried over to the dessert table and photo booth. A simple dessert table backdrop was created by re-using the navy blue and gray pomettes from Pom Flair and suspending a LEGO snow speeder from the ceiling. The Jedi pilot cake from PhoebeCakes stood on top of a cake stand built entirely out of LEGOs. We also had a mini birthday celebration for Uncle Frank and baby Haven with cupcakes from Cupcakes Actually and Sweetz Bakery, and fondant toppers made by Lynlee’s Petite Cakes. Doughbabies baked by Dough a Deer were placed on top of oatmeal boxes covered with wrapping paper to resemble LEGO bricks. Mom’s Killer Cakes killed it with the Storm Trooper, Darth Vader and Death Star cake pops. The comic strip style photo booth constructed from black tri-fold foam board and equipped with LEGO Star Wars props was another big hit with the guests. It was Melanie’s idea to blow up the image of the sunburst for the background. Of course the LEGOs were the highlight of the party. Brixalot, a local company here in the Dulles area, hooked us up with 30,000+ LEGOs — more than enough bricks to rebuild the Rebel fleet. It wouldn’t be a party at our place without a creation from my husband, the “Cardboard Master”. Every year, he puts his Mechanical Engineering degree to good use and makes the most incredible things out of cardboard. Paper Star Wars snowflakes, which hung above the snow speeder, were another last minute DIY project. At the conclusion of Camden’s 5th birthday saga, guests took home these mini LEGO Star Wars ship sets. A galactic good time was had by all!” Vendors- Photography: Rebecca Watkins Photography Invitation and Other Printables: ewehooo LEGOs: Brixalot Cake: PhoebeCakes Cupcake Toppers: Lynlee’s Petite Cakes Cupcakes: Cupcakes Actually and Sweetz Bakery Mini Doughnuts: Dough a Deer Cake Pops: Mom’s Killer Cakes Pomettes: Pom Flair

And here is the next amazing Star Wars Party submitted by Liebesbotschaft. I love the lunch boxes, cookies and the action figures in the small glass bottles! This party goes to show that simple party elements can go a very long way.

Lego Themed Birthday Party!

My next feature goes to this super fun LEGO THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Debbie Messmer of Wants and Wishes Design. I’ll start off by saying one thing- my 4 year old would FLIP out at this party…he is obsessed with legos. Debbie did such a great job! I love how almost everything is made out of legos…even the cake stand! Here is what Debbie said- “I can’t wait to share my Lego Birthday Party Collection and dessert table with you. It will truly inspire you! The best part is, if you are creating a Lego party for for a Lego lover, you will probably have everything you need to create this except for our printable Lego party pack. Our Lego party pack will add that finishing touch to your spectacular event . Our Lego party pack includes: pattern papers, flags, favor toppers, cupcake toppers, thank you tags, signs, banners & garlands and much much more to ensure your party is a success! The background story of how I came up with the idea is… I was in the Lego store in downtown Disney with my nephew Will. He was pondering over which lego he was going to get, when i saw it… Lego coin banks… and a spark of genius hit me… You don’t need cake stands…. make them out of legos and their fabulous products. Instantly I was excited to get working on the possibilities (which are endless since we are talking about building blocks!) I thought of tiered stands (which you see I used), individual cupcake stands and one layer platters and stands. I LOVED having the Lego banks, which gave a little dimension to the cake stands instead of just all flush legos. To create the Lego tiers I used Lego coin banks for the base (which are available at all the Lego stores and most toy stores) and then 15″ platforms. Note: if you are stacking heavy items it is best to stagger the “Legos” to create a more stable stand. I really liked the Lego banks too because they are flush on top so you can add tape or hot glue them to the platform if want to give it that extra strength. They also, have a rim around the the base, which allows it to fit perfectly and flush to the Lego platforms…. again I didn’t want my cake stand to fall down! Now for the desserts! They were as fun as the platters I put them on. I had mini figure chocolate cupcakes, Lego & mini figure sugar cookies, Mini figure cake pops, chocolate legos and goodie bags filled with sugary delights. For the Mini figure cake pops with that half smile, the black is hard to replicate so I recommend buying a tube of black shinny frosting from the grocery store. You can apply the mini figure face with a toothpick. It made such a difference as you get the deep sharp black. The sugar cookie lego building blocks- I search high and low for candies that were round without any holes. Alas, I found them at the dollar store! We made square cupcakes with Wilton’s silicone cups. They worked amazing!!!! But what all the kids went crazy over were our mini figure mini cupcakes. As I was searching for items for the Lego party collection I came across ice cube trays in the shape of 3×2 legos and mini figures. I had great hopes these would work and they did like a charm! I attached a flag from our lego party pack with the chocolate mini figures. (the ice cube trays you can find online at amazon and the Lego theme park store in San Diego sells them as well) I found little mini figure lanterns at Toy R Us and couldn’t pass them up! They made the best little “cheerleaders” holding a lego sign of the birthday boy’s name (they even light up).” Vendors: Design and stylizing: Wants and Wishes Homemade treats and desserts: Wants and Wishes Lego bricks and ice trays: Lego Store Candies for lego cookies: Dollar Tree Mini figure lanterns: Toys R Us
