This is what Melissa said about planning the party- “My daughter Kate recently turned two and I took two of her favorite things as inspiration for the party: The book “Pinkalicious” and anything with Gold Glitter. She has favored the “Pinkalicious” book since she’s been tiny. Our copy of the book is torn to shreds! I didn’t want to use the character in the book for the main design but instead used my sweet Kate. I photographed her in a gold princess crown and and dressed her in a shade of pink. Then I worked with the color in designing the invite.

At the party, guests got to enjoy a variety of Pinkalicious treats that you’d see in the story. Two of my favorites were the pink cupcakes complete with gold dust and the Pinkalicious strawberry cake. For the party favors, the girls received gold or glitter star wands just like Pinkalicious in the story. For the extra pink/glitter touches throughout the table, I incorporated pink/glitter ribbon on the mason jars and designed pink and glitter water bottle labels. I love the chevron design of the backdrop and was so excited to stumble across that paper. It added the touch of modern I was looking for. The paper tassels at the top were so easy to make and polished off the background. Pinkalicious Kate and her friends had a sparkly fun 2nd birthday party!”

Cat + Kitty Themed 2nd Birthday Party

This adorable CAT THEMED SECOND BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Carissa Wegner.

I love that this party is completely centered around cats! So many cute ideas here! Here are a few of my favorite elements:
The yarn-wrapped MEOW letters
The favor bags with paper cat faces glued onto them
The fondant pennant banner cake with a 3-D cat topper
The hand-painted cat themed photo op
and MORE!

This is what Carissa said about planning the party- “My daughter loves cats, so I used her Bla Bla Bubbles cat doll as inspiration for her birthday party. I tried to make everything kitty themed. The invitation and printables were designed by Anders Ruff. They did an amazing job! Rachel of Frosted Bliss made the delicious cake. She did a wonderful job incorporating all the details from the invitation. There were also plenty of other sweets like paw print cookies from RedSprinkles, kitty cake pops from Glass of Milk Cake Company, and a candy bar with kit kats, licorice, and sweedish fish. For entertainment we had a custom kitty pinata made by Aracely, a pin the tail on the cat game made by my talented mother in law, and a fun photo op painted by DeeDee. For non-sweets we had Meow Mix (chex mix), gold fish crackers, fruit kabobs, and fish shaped sandwiches. Everything was a big hit!”

This is what Leticia said about planning the party- “This was my daughter’s 2nd birthday party. She loves ice cream, so I thought that it would be a great theme for the party and she really loved it. I cannot describe the excitement I felt as she, at this age, thanked me for everything. She realized all the time and effort we spent on every single detail. She was surprised and excited as she saw the place transformed into an ice cream shop. I just can’t forget her little face at that moment. The thing I loved the most was the Styrofoam ice creams we made as centerpieces, they turned out great! People asked me where we bought them, but no, we created them!!  I’d like to give a big thank you to my mother, Leticia! She really helped me out with a lot of things in the party, including the centerpieces. We gave ice cream plates as favors and ice cream bubbles to the kids. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the little bags everyone received.”

Shannon said this about planning the party- ”I figured at age 2, this would be the last year I could call the shots on my son’s birthday party theme. Even though he’s growing up so fast, I knew I wanted a sweet theme that was still a bit babyish. His first and favorite song has been Twinkle Twinkle Little Star so I knew that was the way to go.

I convinced a friend to save her old windows for me for the backdrop, which I backed with a navy shower curtain and tiny twinkle lights. I whipped up some puffy white clouds to hang above it using felt and batting. Then I went crazy with the desserts. From the gold glittered cake pops to the shooting star sugar cookies to the pineapple stars, everything was homemade. I added a bit of gold washi tape to all of my white serving pieces to tie it together a bit as well.

Since I went crazy with the dessert table, I cut myself some slack and ordered pizza. But not before a Star Bar was born! I filled glass bottles with tea & lemonade and covered anything that stood still with those little gold teacher’s star stickers. Some homemade constellation embroidery told everyone about it!”
