This ORGANIC GREEN FORTIETH BIRTHDAY PARTY DESSERT BUFFET was submitted by Melissa Fernandez of The Sweet Society in Australia.
I love the contrast of the natural burlap with the clean lines of the chevron print. It gives the party an unusual rustic modern vibe. A few of my favorite ideas in this organic green party are:
The ricrac trim and simple succulent embellishments on the crisp white fondant cake
Here’s what Melissa said about planning the party- “I was very fortunate to be asked by Fran who owns the renowned Cake School in Melbourne, Australia, where some of the world’s best baker’s run the most amazing cake classes for aspiring bakers, to style her best friends 40th dessert buffet as a surprise for her.
The design brief was clean, organic, greens & succulents – Nati’s favourite.
Fran made the cake and called upon one of her friends, Julie from One Sweet Girl, to make the desserts.
The dessert buffet menu from these talented bakers consisted of a caramel mud cake with roasted, salted almonds, chocolate mud cake pops and mini cupcakes (which were delicious lemon flavor with vanilla bean buttercream topped with dogwood sugar flowers). There were also green mini vanilla bean meringues with silver glitter detail, iced vanilla bean cookies and salted caramel, pistachio and vanilla macarons.
I decided to use hessian in the paperie and add a little chevron pattern to add a layer to the styling. I also added wooden tea lights to add ambiance to the occasion. Nati is Uruguayan so they served a traditional Uruguayan BBQ for the main meal.
The surprise dessert buffet from Fran to Nati was a beautiful gesture of friendship and love.”

This is what Lauren said about planning the party- “St Patrick’s Day is of no specific significance in our home (we aren’t Irish) other than I think its a fun holiday! I wanted to put together a festive little budget friendly dessert table to celebrate. It was extremely easy, tons of fun and best of all cost under $50 to create. I managed to coordinate the details and get some wonderful vendors on board in less then a week. I hit the ground running with my primary focus being shamrocks. I find them to be the most whimsical element associated with St. Patrick’s Day. Lauren Haddox worked up the adorable printables for the set up. How Sweet it is worked her cookie magic and Tunky Monkey’s Sweet Treats sent me the some amazing goodies to coordinate with the theme. Everything came together nicely and Danielle McCann Photography captured all the details. It was a fun challenge and the end result proves that you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a creative, holiday inspired dessert table!”
This is what Cris said about planning the party- “With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, now is the time to start planing your get together! Amanda’s Parties to Go and I teamed up to help make the festivities easy and fun for you! Amanda is offering a FREE St. Patrick’s Day Printable Set that made this party a breeze to style. I created a colorful sweet/snack table for the kids with a rainbow backdrop made out of ribbons where I displayed the banner from the set. I used the icons from the printable set to create the center pieces for the the sweet table and the kids table. I dressed up the candy containers using ribbons and the circle tags included in the set. I also used the tags to embellish the popcorn containers. The rainbow flags were added on the kabobs sticks and lollipops for an extra pop of color. As for healthy snacks, the guests enjoyed leprechaun whole wheat sandwiches, rainbow fruit kabobs, veggies and orange juice. After their lunch, the children had fun making rainbow necklaces and finding gold coins around the backyard. It was finally time to enjoy some sweets! Rainbow cupcakes, M&M’s, Hershey’s kisses, lollipops and cinnamon popcorn were enjoyed by all! Instead of the traditional rainbow and pot of gold favor, I created a cute favor by dressing up green pails using cupcake wrappers, filling them with gold coins and finishing up by adding a rainbow lollipop.

This is what Devoney said about the party- “I did this party for my son’s 5th birthday. His favorite color is green so I made all the food green, we all wore green and he even got green presents. Although the cake wasn’t strictly green the edible treasures inside the cake were!”

It’s hard to believe that it’s already March! With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I’m excited to showcase this adorable ST. PATRICK’S DAY BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by TammyMitchell ofTammy Mitchell Designs.
Here’s what Tammy had to say about the party- “Growingup, St. Patrick’s Day was NOT a big holiday in our house. It was more or less aday that we just made sure that we wore something green so we didn’t getpinched. Well, fast forward to today and things have changed a little in ourhouse. Now St. Patrick’s Day is a much celebrated and anticipated day thanks tothe fact that my sweet little girl was born on this special day. A little girlwho’s favorite colors are usually all pink, light pink and hot pink (yes, theyare all different colors of the rainbow…did you know?) turns to a green fiendfrom February 15th to March 17th. When we wander through stores and she seesall the green, she fully believes that it is all in honor of her special day.It is too cute. I know that there will come a time that she no longer believesthis, so I have to live it up while I can. I completely feed into her obsessionand belief that the world is celebrating with her. Who wouldn’t want to feellike that? I’m so excited to share this party with you and hope you will beinspired to have a little green celebration of your own this year! :)”
