This is what Sarah said about planning the party- “Every woman loves a beautiful High Tea. It’s an opportunity to indulge in conversation and delectable food with a touch of the femme. When I was asked to organise and style a High Tea for 50 women of all ages, I was super excited as it was my first High Tea. I came up with a vintage inspired theme with a pastel flavour and straight away I started dreaming of pastels in all their varieties. It consumed me and I loved every minute of it! A few of the ladies wanted to bring food for the dessert table, so I selected some lovely homemade treats for them to cook that would fit with the theme, and it worked out so beautifully that it was a sensory overload of magnificence (even though I am prone to exaggeration at times, I really mean it)!! The desserts included everything from Australian lamingtons, caramel & raspberry cheesecakes, butterfly cupcakes, rosewater meringue’s with Persian fairy floss, peppermint crisp cheesecakes for a pop of green, white chocolate coated peanut butter balls (yummo), butterfly cookies hanging beautifully in a cage, Ivory Ruffle Cake with pink gradient mud cake inside, incredible teapot cookies, and so much more. They were all divine. A few of the ladies who helped with the baking are so incredibly talented that I continue to use them for many of my dessert buffets!

For some of the accessories and backdrops, I was lucky enough that a friend of mine was throwing out her old vintage tea sets, curtains (which I used for the backdrop of the main dessert table), sewing sets, doilies, even a cupboard and chairs. I embraced all of this for the styling of the party, and it was perfect! It was a truly beautiful party, which was topped off by an 78 year old lady coming up to me at the end and telling me it was the best day of her life!”

1st Birthday Vintage Tea Party

This FIRST BIRTHDAY VINTAGE TEA PARTY was submitted by Lima Limão – Festas com charme from Portugal. This party is definitely full of all things charming and girly!

Here are some of my favorite elements of this vintage chic tea party:
The different sizes and shapes of glassware used to serve and display the desserts
The single pink rose motif used throughout the decor
The invitation wrapped in lacy paper
The lovely white cake adorned with, of course, a single pink rose
and MORE!

Here’s what Lima Limão – Festas com charme said about planning the party- “Carlota is a very famous baby in Portugal. She has her own blog (Carlota’s blog) written by her mother. It’s so popular that Carlota’s mom won the prize of “mom blogger of 2012″.
Carlota celebrated her first birthday with a tea party. The style was vintage chic with pink, white and touches of gold as a color palette.
We set a tea table with doilies and vintage roses as the main elements.
We paid attention to every detail so that this party could have all the necessary charm
. Congratulations to Carlota on her 1st Tea Party!!

Ashley said this about planning the party- ”My daughter’s first birthday was my very first party to plan — and I have a new respect for party planners! Wow, they’re a lot of work! I have known since my daughter was born that I wanted her to have a vintage, ‘shabby chic’ themed first birthday party. I know this may be the only birthday where I have free reign (I’m sure it will be Minnie or Rapunzel in years to come) so I wanted something sweet, girly and simple.

I started out with a light pink, peach and mint green color scheme. I couldn’t get ANY of the green things to match that I ordered online, so I just did away with the green and replaced it with ivory. I made everything myself except for the cake and the catered BBQ. I made the fabric banner out of prints that I’ve been collecting here and there for the past few months. I made the ‘LILY KATE’ and ‘ONE’ banners from burlap, white craft paint and stencils made on my home printer. The antique scale, blue Mason jars, crocheted things and produce boxes were either borrowed from family or things I already owned.

My husband made the mason jar ‘sippy cups’. The guests loved these! I used ivory paper straws and attached pretty tags made from kraft cardstock and paper roses. Turns out, the guests wrote their names on the back of the tags, so I may just include a blank ‘name tag’ next time instead of something decorative. Also, many guests asked to take these home, so this would be a GREAT party favor!

We set tables up on our back porch with catered BBQ for lunch. (Sorry, I didn’t catch any decent pics.) We had the “dessert” table inside as well as the drink bar. The cake was made by a local bakery and my mom and I dipped strawberries, pretzel sticks, and marshmallows in pink and peach tinted chocolate. We used pretty pearl sprinkles as garnish. I also served fun pink candies and included a few things for the babies to snack on.

I loved making the favors for the guests. For the kids, I used small kraft paper bags and filled them with little goodies and candy. My husband has a friend in the carnival business and he provided us with 50 bags of pretty pink cotton candy. (How cool?!) We had enough for each guest and I attached a tag that said, “It was so SWEET of you to come!”

The custom invitations, wrap around mailing labels, birthday “chalkboard” poster, favor tags and framed birthday print were also designed and assembled myself. The digital files will be available soon for purchase in my Etsy shop.”

Shabby Chic Princess Birthday Party

Isn’t this SHABBY CHIC PRINCESS BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Louise Sanders of Sunshine Parties absolutely gorgeous?!

Louise said- “Every little girl wants a princess party at some stage of their childhood, so we at Sunshine Parties decided to put a twist to the traditional castle and pink plastic crowns look. We added a fresh take on a princess party but with a vintage shabby chic look.

The trick to party decor is that it is all in the detail! We created this look by using our designs from our latest Sunshine Parties printable set. All digital design elements can be printed on a home PC printer and handmade. This makes the party unique and still affordable! With a little imagination this party can look beautiful and your little girl will love it.”

Vintage Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Party

I am in love with this VINTAGE STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Nazra Knutsen. So many adorable ideas here!

Nazra said- “My sister, Kennedi, & I wanted to throw a combined party for our daughters, Ella & Mia, whose birthdays are a month a part from each other. Both the girls love Strawberry Shortcake…so we started our party planning with a “Vintage Strawberry Shortcake” theme in mind. I was so excited when I found all the adorable vintage strawberry & Strawberry Shortcake trays, lunch boxes, & tins to include in the decor! We “DIY’d” the pretty garland, hanging strawberries, jam for favor’s, & flower arrangements. Everything came together so perfectly! The birthday girls loved all the strawberries everywhere & had so much fun celebrating their birthdays with all their little friends. One fun element that you can’t see in the photos is that we had strawberry candles lit so when the guests walked into the house, it smelled liked strawberries! Yum!

We want to say a special ‘thanks’ to our other sister, Naomi, & our mom, for helping run errands, picking up stuff for us, & for helping make the jam, garland, & the hanging strawberries! Also, special ‘thanks’ to Jenny from Jenny Cookies for all the ‘berry sweet’ & adorable treats & perfect cakes she made to compliment the theme of the party!”
