Lyndsey said- “Halloween is one of my most favorite party seasons. From the delicious autumn flavors and creative spooky dishes to the cute kids’ costumes, the cool weather and exciting atmosphere makes for a perfect celebration time. But since we just rounded a party corner at our house (3 summer birthdays and a gender reveal for our baby on the way!), we had to really think “budget” this year for Halloween. We wanted to feature our new Haunted Forest Collection and have a spooky but kid-friendly feel. By hunting down DIY tutorials online and borrowing/reusing props, we managed to set up a VERY low budget but spooky party that had the kids screaming with delight!

Food: All of our food was cheap and store bought (excluding the cookies). Our local grocer’s bakery had chocolate cupcakes for just pennies, to which we added cupcake toppers. The Sticky Apples were prepackaged from the grocery store and dressed up with ribbon and straw tags. And The Paula Deen Cinnamon Bundt Cake was an easy cake solution. (And let me be the first to say, just because it wasn’t homemade, doesn’t mean it wasn’t moist and delicious. It was MIA by the time we got home!) The owl cookies were from my sweet friend Kim of Kimmies Custom Cookies that she made to correspond with The Haunted Forest Invitation.

Costumes: When you have three children and multiple parties, you sometimes have to get creative with costumes! I searched the internet and found a super easy DIY tutorial for owl costumes by Alpha Mom (And I mean super easy! No sewing required!) All of the fabrics were on clearance at our local craft store. And for just a touch of whimsy, I ordered the cute owl masks from Opposite of Far on Etsy. The bat mask was an old recycled costume piece we dug up.”

Owl Themed Birthday Party For Triplets!

Whoooo wants to see the most adorable OWL THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY for Triplets?! This is one of those parties that just blows me away. SO much work! Submitted by L´apparato of Brazil, this Owl party is sure to impress. Here is what L’appartato said about the party- “We made this birthday for triplets, who completed three years, two girls and a boy …. the theme chosen by the mother was the birthday of owls, because the owl means ‘wisdom’. We did something lovely by hanging owls from tree branches, which were the souvenirs. The bottom panel of the table was prepared by CRIA art and dressing…it matched the theme of the party. On each guest table we put handmade owl books, which were delicate and childlike.”

Real Party: Woodland Fairy Birthday!

My next winning party feature goes to this gorgeous
Woodland Fairy Birthday Party
submitted by Gwynn Wasson Designs.
Such a beautiful Party!
I HEART the edible toadstools! {Gwynn is putting up a tutorial on her site on how to make them soon.}
Gwynn said, “I used the invitation as the jumping off point for all the other elements that were incorporated into in the tablescape…And I do mean “tablescape”. For this party, I mulled over the word “tablescape” a lot. I wanted the table to feel like a landscape. Like a forest floor. Like the birch forest we were using for inspiration.”
And the best part…most of these party goods and more can be purchased in Gwynn’s shop here!
Amazing job, Gwynn.
Thanks for your submission.
Congrats on being the winning party feature of the day!

Gwynn knew that she wouldn’t have any of the sparkling yellow sunbeams to highlight her table. So as a substitute, she created a forsythia tree (tutorial here!) to add a bright, golden cheeriness to the “landscape”.
