Chevron Print Sesame Street 2nd Birthday Party

This CHEVRON PRINT SESAME STREET 2ND BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Julia Shultz of Let’s Have a Ball! Parties and Events. What a cute idea…mixing sesame street with fun chevron & polka dot patterns!

Julia said- “The birthday girl, Addison, loves Sesame Street , and Addison ’s mommy and Mimi loved the look of the Girly Elmo Birthday Party by Kelly Lyden (of WH Hostess) that they saw on Hostess with the Mostess. So using that party as inspiration, I got to work!

I started by ordering several chevron printed fabrics, including a beautiful multi-colored designer Riley Blake print. I used these fabrics to create table runners, fabric strip garlands, the fabric covered Styrofoam “A” decoration, party hat, bib, and the adorable little party dress.

For each party I style, I always like to include a welcome table situated close to the entrance to greet guests, setting the tone for the party. For the centerpiece of Addison ’s table, I used stacked colorful suitcases with the fabric chevron print “A” on top. There were framed pictures of the birthday girl, a framed welcome sign, and some delicious chocolate covered treats with Elmo face toppers. I created a personalized card stock banner and hung it on the front of the table.

My favorite part of a party is the sweets table, and this table was truly so much fun to design! I created the backdrop using blue chevron print mixed in with a solid yellow fabric. I then hung hot pink custom painted frames with pictures of Addison on each side of a large “2” that I cut from Styrofoam and covered in a hot pink satin fabric. I topped the backdrop off with 2 fabric garlands. I then made the colorful ruffled tablecloth using a mix of solid and polka dots in hot pink, orange, blue, yellow, green, red, and purple. Using candlesticks and wooden circle plaques painted pink, I made several stands for the treats. I incorporated the chevron print onto the candy labels and cupcake toppers, as well as my custom “Sweets” sign. The centerpiece of the table was the cute cake topped with Elmo. There were cupcakes, mini cupcakes, gumballs, chevron print iced sugar cookies, lollipops, chocolate Elmo pops, chocolate covered Oreos with sesame street character and chevron print toppers, cake pops, striped candy sticks, and pixie sticks.

I kept the table centerpieces simple, but cute. I used chevron print runners and fabric squares on each table. Some centerpieces were candy filled suitcases or bowls, and the others were like an over-sized cupcake topper that I made out of card stock which read “Happy 2nd Birthday, Addison” and accented with an Elmo face graphic. I placed these into colored glass bottles or colorful striped tin pails. Each table was then accented with tissue poms in various colors.

There were several activity stations for the children to enjoy. Each has a custom sign placed inside wooden frames which I painted blue. At “Zoe’s Jewelry Station” children created their own edible necklaces and bracelets using gummy lifesavers, fruit loops, cheerios, etc. Addison ’s favorite was “Abby Cadabby’s Flying Fairy Dress Up” which was filled with necklaces, bracelets, hair accessories, rings, sunglasses, tutus, and all sorts of cute little dress up items which the children could take home as party favors. There was also “ Addison ’s World Face Painting”, “Big Bird’s Bird Seed Treasure Hunt”, and “Bert and Ernie’s Rubber Duckie Pond”. Another adorable feature was a custom made photo prop board, handmade by one of the birthday girl’s family members, where kids could get their picture taken with Elmo.”

Red and Turquoise Elmo Party

My next party feature goes to this darling RED & TURQUOISE ELMO THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Tiffany Grimal of Cupcake Dream. Such a cute set up! I just love the non traditional turquoise color mixed in with the red. Those Elmo cake pops couldn’t be cuter, too.
Here is what Tiffany said about the party- “Every morning at 9am, Katelyn runs to living room for “Elmo time”. She has become quite obsessed with the furry, red, loveable monster. So, when it came time to plan her second birthday party the theme was not a mystery. However, I didn’t want to recreate the usual primary colored Sesame Street theme. Instead, I wanted to design a unique “world” just for Katelyn. We’ll call it… “Katelyn’s World”.
After the invitation was complete, all the other design elements followed. I used the same details to put together water bottle labels, favor tags, cupcake toppers, and straw tags. The invitation design inspired everything including the cake and cookies from Sugar Boo Sweets. Since the theme was Katelyn’s World, and mommy had already taken over the color scheme, I thought it was time to add a few more of her favorites. Party favors included a favorite snack, goldfish, and her love of reading. With some adorable glass bowls from Favor Days, even Elmo’s fish Dorthy was ready to join in on some Katelyn’s World fun! The party guests could also sit down for a good story thanks to the Elmo miniature book set we found at Lakeside Collection. Not wanting to stop there, the other do it yourself projects started. A quick review of my Pinterest board gave me some great ideas. I loved the idea of a crayon wreath but instead built it to be the bottom of the cookie stand base. Unable to find a reasonably priced red cake stand, I made the trip to Hobby Lobby for a large wood candle stand that could be spray painted for much less. Martha Stewart’s great website gave me step by step instructions for the red and blue paper poms. The Elmo cake pops was by far the most interesting DIY project I’ve ever attempted. After the fourth try and many bags of candy melts, I am happy to say that my husband and I are now “Bakerella in training”. These fun elmo treats were the talk of the party and tasted absolutely yummy!A lot of sweat, blood (remove fingers before cutting tissue paper), and hair loss went into creating Katelyn’s World. Fortunately, more smiles and giggles came out! I can’t wait to do it all again next year.Vendor List: Paper Products & Event Design – Cupcake Dream: http://www.etsy.com/shop/cupcakedream Elmo Cake & Cookies – Sugar Boo Sweets: http://sugarboosweets.blogspot.com Elmo Dress – Caterpillar Kids: http://www.etsy.com/shop/kandybarnett Glass Fish Bowl (Favors) – Favor Days: http://www.favor-days.com Elmo Books – Lakeside Collection: http://www.lakeside.com/ Aqua Tinted Mason Jars: http://www.etsy.com/shop/gaelgallery Elmo Pinata & Polka Dot Balloons – Party City: http://www.partycity.com DIY Cake Stand – Hobby Lobby: http://www.hobbylobby.com

submitted by Sweet Craft Cakes!
I just love the girly twist to the traditional Elmo party!
Noelle said…..I began searching online to find inspiration for an Elmo or Sesame Street themed birthday party. But I found myself not feeling inspired by anything, then realized why. My little sweetie is just to glamorous to have a traditional sesame party with primary colors. So this is where it all took off. I thought, why not plan her an out of the box Glam Elmo party!!! Who say’s Elmo can’t be glamorous? I chose black, white, red and damask for my color palette and incorporated tulle through out the party.
In this party post you will find very helpful tutorials,
party ideas and vendors to use for your next celebration!!”

“I wanted my table to appear as if it were a TuTu. I took 10 yards of tulle and scrunched and pinned and scrunched and pinned it to my tablecloth all around the table. Next I added the red sequence ribbon all around the table to hide the pins. Then I added my giant handcrafted fabric flowers.”…Photobucket

“I searched everywhere to find a chandelier cupcake stand to use for my party…I searched in all my local stores to find something that would work, and nothing.
Then one day I decided to go into Beverly’s Outlet shop and walked past a beautiful chandelier candelabra. I was in LOVE! So I bought the last three of them, in hopes to create a masterpiece. I took them all apart and pieced them together and this is what I ended up with. It’s elegant, beautiful, glamorous, and I LOVE it!”Photobucket
