Cookie Monster Cookies and Milk Birthday Party

Oh goodness, if you have a Cookie Monster lover in your home then this is the party for you! So many cute ideas here! How darling is this COOKIE MONSTER COOKIES & MILK 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Lauren Borquez of Being the Borquez’s! Lauren said- “When I started planning Logan’s first birthday party the first two things that came to my mind is his love for milk and his unique, sweet personality. A cookies and milk party for my little one seemed like an obvious choice. I wanted the feel of a classic cookies and milk party but I also wanted to make sure that Cookie Monster himself played a role. After all, he snuggles with a plush Cookie Monster every night before bedtime and lets be honest who doesn’t adore Cookie Monster?! I wanted to make sure that this party had an intimate and sentimental touch. It was a family only affair and I asked each family member to bake their favorite cookie. Those cookies, along with a Cookie Monster cake and cupcakes were served to our guests. Milk was the obvious drink of choice. I wanted to make sure everything was cohesive. The color scheme was brown and blues. The focal point was the dessert table that the cookies and main cake was featured on . That area I wanted to be primarily brown with the idea that as you grazed on cookies galore the color scheme would then carry you to the kitchen island where blue as well as Cookie Monster become the focus. To tie the areas together I had Cookie Monster footprints leading the way. All things are blue in the monsters world even the blue “monster milk” and blue cookies served there. Lastly, for the favor table there were two choices of favors. Since the party was family oriented we had many adult guests. Cookies in a jar mixes served as the adult favors and take home cookie monster boxes were for the children to bag up their favorite cookies from the party. We had a wonderful party. We had a smiling one year old the entire time that eventually was blue from head to toe. It was everything a first birthday party should be with the main ingredient being lots of love from a family that adores him. Lots of cookies didn’t hurt either :).” Vendors and Credits- Photography : Danielle McCann Photography Cake & Cupcakes : HotMommas Bakery Tabledrop : Linckids Cookies & Milk Graphic Backdrop : Ta*Love Cookie Yard Prop : Adorable Decorations Cookie Monster Wreath: The Knock Knock Factory Invites: Scrap Your Story Printables : BabyBuns Designs Party items used that are available in Kara’s Party Ideas Shop: Glass Milk Bottles Paper Straws Tissue Pom Poms Polka Dot Balloons White Gable Boxes

In Holly’s words…“While the theme for this party was sesame street, I wanted to stay away from making it too cheesy with characters everywhere. I tried instead to focus on the color scheme, which was red, yellow, green, and blue. All of the food was inspired from sesame street; pizza (elmo’s favorite food), fruit, Dorothy’s goldfish, Cookie Monster’s monster cookies, snuffle’s truffle’s, chocolate milk, cake pops, and character cupcakes. I wanted something fun and colorful for the wall behind the food table, so I tied multiple pieces of ribbon to a wooden dowel and used 3M hooks to hang it from the ceiling. I made the lamp post sign from wooden pieces I found at Michaels craft store. I also wrapped some empty boxes with colorfulwrapping paper to add some height to the table, and found the great red cake plates at Home Goods.
I bought a goldfish to set out and told all the kids that Elmo’s goldfish, Dorothy, had come to visit. They all loved him and were excited to say hi. I bought some vintage sesame street books from a local thrift store and cut out some pictures to frame for the activity stations, and to make the thank you tags. I found some vintage puzzles on amazon and had a puzzle station where kids could put the puzzles together and then make their own with blank puzzles that I found at a local craft store.
The favors were little plastic jars filled with play dough that I found on esty. I also filled cellophane bags with organic popcorn for the adults.”
