Candy Land Christmas Party

My next party feature will fill your minds with TONS of holiday party inspiration! This CANDY LAND CHRISTMAS PARTY submitted by Amanda Parker of Shindig Parties is absolutely amazing! Seriously, I can not even imagine how much time and effort went in to this. Amanda deserves a huge shout out! So many details, I can’t believe it! LOVE love LOVE it all. Amanda definitely can explain her party better than I can so let’s let her do the talking now… Here is what Amanda said about the party- “I’ve always loved the idea of a Candy Christmas with lollipops and peppermint, gingerbread men and candy canes. For the table, it was important to set the holiday scene with an eye-catching backdrop. I got the idea while re-decorating my little boys’ room and having a few frames left over which I thought would be perfect for showcasing some over-sized crafted candies made from felt, styrofoam and cellophane. These are an easy craft and come together in no time at all for very little money. In fact, the smaller styrofoam circles came from the Dollar Tree. I love using thrift items to create unique table displays and created the cake plates from brass candlesticks and some plastic circular lazy susans found at Goodwill. After painting the candlesticks and lazy susans with white spray paint, I glue them together and then hot glued the eyelet around the edge of the plate. Adding a border of peppermints (adhered with hot glue) finished the edges and tied in perfectly with the candy theme. For the three candlesticks and the four platters, I spent a total of $9.50! The topiary trees were another easy craft idea. For the taller trees, I used a poster board rolled into a cone shape and then alternated rows of 4″ eyelet with rows of cherry fruit slices, glued on with hot glue (a crafting girl’s best friend!). The smaller trees were heavier with more candy so I used a plastic megaphone-shaped cone from the Dollar Tree as a base and then covered it with white poster board. Next, I alternated gluing rows of peppermints with rows of the cherry fruit slices. For the tablecloth, I used a white table cloth I already owned and bought two yards each of three different fabrics to create ruffles. This was a fun idea and created a bit of drama to balance the backdrop of the dessert table. Adding a store-bought red bow completed the look. I was thrilled to collaborate again with the brilliantly talented Brittany Rumohr of Edible Details who created all of the amazing fondant toppers on the table. For the cake, I made my mother-in-laws famous coconut cake (a must-have at every holiday get together), surrounded it with peppermint sticks and topped it off with some of the Edible Details fondant lollipops, gingerbread men and jumbo gum drops. From the fondant toppers on the cake to the Santa hat cupcake toppers, peppermint cookie toppers and the sweet little gingerbread men, I love how fondant makes it easy and quick to turn ordinary baked goods into something extraordinary. The cupcakes were all store-bought and believe it or not, the cookies were simply white chocolate covered Oreos which you can find for the holidays in grocery stores everywhere. Over-sized campfire marshmallows dipped in white chocolate candy coating and then sprinkled with crushed peppermint are another simple but fun treat for a party. Adding a striped paper straw “stick” from Shop Sweet Lulu makes them fun and easy to eat, too. These make great party favors or classroom treats when wrapped individually with cellophane and tied with ribbon and a gift tag. The Candy Christmas printables set was used throughout the table as dessert labels, cupcake toppers, cupcake wraps and more. One of my favorite ideas was the Santa hat cake pop holders. I printed the red and white dot paper from the printables set and cut cone shapes out. After rolling them into santa hat shapes, I added a little fur trim and topped them off with a cake pop for Santa’s pom pom. Red velvet cake parfaits were made in individual servings and topped off with cream cheese frosting and a sprinkle of crushed peppermint candy. Miniature felt Santa hats from Hobby Lobby made for a fun embellishment on the serving spoons. Store-bought rice crispy treats already cut into serving size portions were dipped in white chocolate candy coating and then drizzled with red candy coating. Adding a small ribbon bow and a gingerbread logo from the Candy Christmas printables set made the simple desserts stand out. Miniature candy wraps from the Candy Christmas printables set were placed in a glass bowl on the table and also placed inside of take home favor bags along with a few homemade holiday cookies. Utensils were wrapped in red paper napkins and secured with a 2″ peppermint candy printable from the collection and some white grosgrain ribbon made to resemble wrapped candy pieces. Drink glasses were simply small mason jars embellished with red and white checked ribbon and a sweet red button. For the Hot Cocoa Bar, various widths of white ribbon and white tulle were stapled on a 1”x4” board to create a simple ribbon backdrop along with some craft store snowflakes. Food labels from the Candy Christmas printables set were used to label sundae glasses filled with various store bought yummies like M&M’s, chocolate chips and toffee. Peppermint marshmallows, chocolate covered peppermint sticks and chocolate peppermint spoons were placed close to the cocoa mugs for fun stirrers. Batting was used to simulate “snow” and a oversized snowman made from styrofoam balls was a fun focal point for the bar.” VENDORS:

Holly Jolly Christmas Party

These North Pole cupcakes popping up everywhere are just darling. Take a look at my next party feature, a HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS PARTY, submitted by Cathy Cattaneo of Five O’ Five Design+Paperie. SO cute. I just love all the fun treats. Can’t beat those reindeer peeps on sticks! Everything is just darling. Here is what Cathy said about the party- “I created this party to display my new printable set and give some easy and inexpensive ideas for anyone hosting/attending a Kids Christmas Party this year. I wanted everything to be very lighthearted and child-like, of coarse Santa had to be included. Thank you so much to my good friend Monica of Andary Studio who captured the party perfectly and Tracie’s Sweet Treats for coming through at the last minute with delicious Red Velvet Cupcakes. My main inspiration came from the adorable North Pole Cupcakes found on Kara’s Party Ideas here. To create the hot coco cups simply dip the rim in red chocolate and then again in red sugar sprinkles. This can be done a few days in advanced to save on time. The milk bottles were Starbucks frappuccino bottles cleaned and wrapped with drink bottle label topped off with 2% milk & a red polka dot straw. The Rudolf suckers were chocolate Rudolf peeps on a lollipop stick – pretty simple but way cuter then throwing them on a plate. Milano Cookies were dipped half way in red chocolate and then dipped in crushed up candy canes/peppermints. The reindeer doughnuts were made with chocolate covered doughnuts, pretzels cut in half for antlers, white chocolate chips for eyes and red balls for noses – make sure you remove the noses before serving ;).
This party was created with mostly inexpensive store bought items displayed in a super cute way. Totals: The desserts cost a whooping $25. All in all the party was less then $100.”Vendors:Holly Jolly Printable Set – 505 Design+Paperie Photography – Andary Studio Red Velvet Cupcakes – Tracie’s Sweet Treats Peppermint Table Cloth & Place Mat, Square and round plates – Christmas Tree Shop Polka Dot favor boxes, Straws and Cupcake Liners – The Bakers Confection Glittery Stockings and Hot Coco Tin – Target Candy Cane Mint Milanos Recipes – Hostess with The Mostess

Birds Of A Feather + Vintage Peacock Christmas Party

My next winning party feature goes to this stunning BIRDS OF A FEATHER + VINTAGE PEACOCK CHRISTMAS PARTY submitted by Jason Snyder of Hello My Sweet. Oh my goodness, this is absolutely amazing. I just love the vintage 20′s retro vibe. The teal and gold couldn’t look more elegant together. And who would have thought a peacock would be so beautiful as a Christmas party accent! Love it all. Here is what Hello My Sweet said about the party- “In what seems to be the case as of late, the majority of our props for this party have come from an unusual location. At the start of the holiday season, Dollar Tree’s trim-a-tree décor was a literal treasure trove for our gold, teal and orange color scheme. It was there we found our champagne flutes, artificial fruit (spray painted gold and teal), 2 styles of gold gift wrapping, clear fluted edge votive candle bowls, bronze candle holders (turned into stands) and shiny gold gift boxes. Everything obviously only a dollar each there. For the wrapped Christmas gifts behind the center piece, we just used some empty cereal and fruit snack boxes. I was also able to utilize some of our old stand-bys like my custom made DIY cake stands underneath the charges to give them some height and our white IKEA tray. Even after all the crazy good finds I just mentioned, I think the best of the best (of the best) came from a wee tiny yard sale that we just happened upon, as most yard sale finds do. As we sped by it, I spied with my little eye a small brass birdcage. Price… $1. From Kroger, gold and teal jewel toned chargers ($1 each) that would serve as platters for some tasty treats. At our local Wal-Mart Supercenter, I was able to score the 2nd (of 2 great fabric finds) bolt of fabric ($5) that was like a bazillion yards long. I also found the purple and teal sheer and gold/white grosgrain ribbon from the crafts section at ($1 each). Jo-Ann Fabrics yielded a styrofoam cone ($7) for the awesome Rolo centerpiece, small golden holiday bells ($1), and gold beaded garland ($1). At Target’s dollar section I was able to find, almost hidden from me on the very bottom-most shelf, two golden colored metal buckets. Great as is, but even better after just tweaking them a bit with some turqouise spray paint.
We think our glitzy and glamorous take on the whole Peacock theme turned out stunning.”

North Pole Baking Christmas Party

And next up, this amazing NORTH POLE BAKING CHRISTMAS PARTY submitted by Anders Ruff Custom Designs! This party is beyond adorable. FULL of details, details, details. Love the whimsical, magical feel to it all. I want to jump right through my computer screen and join them!
Here is what Maureen said about their party- “When I think back to my childhood memories of ChristmasI immediately think of the warmth and comfort I would feel when seeing images of The North Pole.  From Santa and his reindeer to the stockings, mittens and candy canes, these were a symbol of the “feeling” of Christmas.  There is a certain nostalgia that those North Pole “symbols” bring and that I want to carry the tradition of in my own family.
This year, we designed a North Pole inspired collection that is perfect for adding style to any Christmas party or gift, but also has elements perfectly tailored for a Cookie Exchange or baking party.
For our dessert table for this North Pole Cookie Exchange party, we wanted to highlight all of the fabulous cookie vendors that have contributed their desserts throughout the year to our parties and holiday photoshoots.  With simple red cake stands on a stark white table cloth, we wanted to make a bold statement while focusing on the beautiful works of art – the cookies!  Some of the cookies were embellished with printable party flags to incorporate our graphics.” ….{continued below}
{continued}…”A framed printable poster of a graphic of santa was hung on the backdrop (Cute little santa poster is included in our new North Pole collection!)
DIY – To add some whimsical style to the windows around the backdrop of the dessert table, we made circle garland out of our patterned papers.  We printed 2 sided cardstock from our patterned papers from the printable collectionWe then punched the paper with various sized circle and scallop craft punches and sewed the circles together, leaving a little space in between.  We hung this garland over the dessert table window and around the hood of the stove.
The front of the dessert table was adorned with precious coordinating felt stockings from RikRak.  We embellished some of those with printable party logos from our collection.
For the cookie exchange party, the children sat at the bar and started out by mixing and baking some cookies.  We setup dishes with ingredients to make it easy.  The kids loved cutting out the cookies, and especially enjoyed eating them.  We displayed vintage glass milk bottles with paper straws and party flags, since you always need milk with your cookies.
We also setup a Hot Chocolate Bar where we displayed different ingredients in little ramekins on our red cake stands.  We displayed a printable hot cocoa bar menu and labeled the ingredients with party flags.  Marshmallows, cookie and cream crumble, old fashioned peppermint sticks, red hots, whipped cream and more!  Two Sugar Babies made some adorable fondant gingerbread men that we used to decorate the display as well.  The children loved mixing their own hot cocoa with the various ingredients.  They were all garnished so differently and that was a very easy activity for the younger children to participate in.
Our new Printable Advent Calendar mittens were hung from the fireplace mantle and filled with small candies.  Gifts were packaged and we introduced several new printable gift tag collections that we displayed on the gifts.  Santa stamp gift tags, hangtags and circle tags all coordinate perfectly with the complete collection.
The party ended with the kids unwrapping all of the gifts that they got each other! This is a tradition we will continue for years to come.
