Girly Superhero 5th Birthday Party

How fun is this SUPERHERO 5TH BIRTHDAY PARTY for a GIRL?! Love it! The party was styled and submitted by Rebeca K of My Paper Lily.

Rebeca said- “MY daughter, Ava turned super FIVE this past March! I had asked her what kind of party she wanted this year, and to my surprise she yelled out, ” A SUPER HERO party!” It isn’t really considered a girly party, I guess, so princess crowns and fairy wings had to be erased from my mind. The challenge wasn’t too difficult, but gathering ideas was a little more like a treasure hunt. Like every superhero party, there had to be a London Phone Booth to change into their life-saving outfits! The Phone Booth became a secret hide-out or a place to escape from the bad guys. Who is saving who!? Haha. I got the box from Lowes. As soon as the children walked in through the door they were immediately presented with their Superhero capes, masks, and hair clips! I made the capes myself along with their belts, and arm cuffs. MUCH more CHEAPER! I am always on a budget, and I’ve probably mentioned this way too many times in my blog posts. Therefore, the dessert table was simple. All that was included were cupcakes ( I made), cookies, rice krispie treats ( I made), and Ava’s cake ( I made). For the sunburst backdrop, I used a second fridge box! I lined up painters tape (that blue tape) to help guide me with the sunburst lines. Then, I alternatively painted two types of Pink colors which I purchased at Walmart. It worked out great! For a while I had a hard time figuring out what I could use to create the Sunburst because I didn’t want to spend money on Fabric! This was so much cheaper, absolutely FREE – except the paint. The city was also made from left over cardboard boxes from our recent move. I cut it up to match her invitation. I wanted the parents to have some fun too! So, I made these Supermom and Superdad stickers to pass around. It generated quite the laugh! I’ll work on having them available soon. I hope you found some great ideas here if you have a daughter or son who wants a Superhero party!” Vendors and Credits:

Jungle Themed 1st Birthday Party

This darling JUNGLE THEMED 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Linnette of Paper Glitter. What a fun take on the classic jungle themed party! The best part- this party was created overnight! Can you believe it?! WOW!

Linnette said- “We decided not to do a “party” for my son’s 1st birthday and we decided on cutting a cake for him instead. It would have been for just us 4 and his grandparents. He had been sick, so this past Sunday when he was feeling better we figured would be a good day to finally cut him a cake (he had been officially one year for almost a month now)!  On the night before, around 10 pm, I decided to print a cake topper for him….then I decided to print bunting ….then one thing led to another, I printed like 15 pages of the Printable Jungle Party Kit, yada yada yada, it was 5 am and I had a whole cute set up done! I didn’t have time for a “dessert table” as we have been all used to seeing and it shouldn’t always be about making one.  Don’t get me wrong I LOVE me some cute dessert tables.  But it can be very unrealistic to create one for every single get together you may have.  I think it’s nice to work with what you have, some times.  So aside from the basic sweets I added items for my 2 kids, the silverware and some monkey plates :)  I  must say…since this was very last minute I could only work with what I already had around the house anyways and you know what????  I had very little stress since all the items of the table were already there for me–I had no choice but to use what I had.  It was all about making a pretty table for my 2 kids who I ADORE. So in keeping this post real, let’s talk about what was on the table.  I had the jungle coloring sheet backdrop printed weeks ago, as I test them before putting them on sale–so I was lucky to have it handy.  My husband had bought a small ice ream cake from Coldstone the night before.   And we also bought some cupcakes just because…..well…… cupcakes + ice cream = yum!  The next day, we got 1.5 ounce hershey bars from Walgreens–one for each one of us.  That orange package  on the right were coloring books for  my kids. And we had some animal crackers laying around so I filled only one of the train boxes with them.  But I always line paper/ printed paper with wax paper, etc…for these train boxes I used coffee filters.   My mom made the cute hats on that Sunday.  Are they not the cutest!  I told her I loved craft paper mixed with fiery colors like the yummy colors in the color spectrum between yellow and orange and she worked her magic.  And let me just say that none of this could have been possible without printables !!!   How awesome was it to decide last minute to need decorations for anything and be able to print and make them in the wee hours of the night!? I hope you enjoy these photos of our humble get together.  I really do hope they inspire you to always remember that you can create a pretty scenery for anything whether it is huge party or a small get together. If you want to recreate something similar to this, I have the printable jungle party kit in the shop and I will add the extra items that I made for this celebration into it in the coming days.  You can find the kit as it currently stands in the shop HERE.  The coloring sheet backdrop can be found HERE. Interesting fact–I put this party kit on sale right about the time I was having my contractions a year ago.  I remember uploading the photos of the kit to the Etsy shop and I was “feeling funny”.  9 hours later my son was born and he had a party kit already designed for his first birthday :).”

Be Mine Valentine’s Day Party – Garland Tutorial & Party Ideas

The next Valentine’s party feature goes to this sweet ‘BE MINE’ VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY submitted by Amber Lyden of Party On Designs. Check out the tulle pom garland tutorial below! Such a cute party. Amber said- “We wanted to create a buffet-style setting. It’s great because the shelves gave height that normally can be difficult to create using a standard table. DIY- How to make a Tulle- Pom-Pom Garland 1. Purchase tulle already in 6″ rolls. You will need about 25 yards to complete 8 poms as shown. 2. Wrap your hand with the tulle, gently, about 10 times. The looser you wrap, the easier it will be in the next step. 3. Remove the band of wrapped tulle from your hand. Holding it together so it will not unravel. 4. Tie with a thin ribbon, wire, or fishing line. Double knot in the center. 5. Cut the loops on both ends 6. Fluff the loose ends by basically twisting side to side. As you do this a few times, you will see they will turn into balls. The more you do this, the fluffier it will become. 7. Once you have your Tulle Poms – use a needle and thread to string it and VOILA!” Vendor Credits: Party Stylist- Amber Lyden of Party On! Designs Printables- Party On! Vintage Ballerina 3rd Birthday Party

This next party feature is absolutely stunning- A VINTAGE BALLERINA 3RD BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Jennifer Schattle of Jennifer Schattle Photography. The best part- only around $150 was spent to create it all! Jennifer Wrote:
“Recently I worked with Jenifer Hill, owner of hello love designs, on a styled shootfor her son Ethan’s 9th birthday. And if that wasn’t fabulous enough … I was invited back to capture all of the amazing details for her daughter Ellah’s vintage ballerina themed 3rd birthday party.I was completely smitten when Ellah greeted me at the door dressed in the cutest pink frilly tutu, accessorized with a vintage blingy brooch, sparkly top, ballerina shoes and a darling rosette headband. And not certain how Jen could possibly outdo the movie party … she blew me away with the attention to detail to make her little ballerina’s third birthday amazing!Guests dined on oven baked ham and cheese sliders, chicken salad croissant sandwiches and homemade pig in the blankets. For dessert … Ellah’s dad Buster made her the most perfect ribbon birthday cake. It was GORGEOUS. There were also yummy powdered donuts, homemade raspberry muffins and vintage glass bowls filled with candy treats. I’m definitely having Jen and Buster plan my next birthday!”Ellah’s mom, Jenifer Hill (from hello love designs), wrote: “My daughter, Ellah, has a love for ballerinas. When I was shopping at the Round Top/Warrenton Antiques Show in Round Top, Texas, I found a stash of vintage little ballerina prints. I purchased them for her room, and when she saw them, the gasp she took helped me to decide the theme of her 3rd birthday – a vintage ballerina. The party: I kept the party simple and the budget small. Not including the birthday girl’s outfit, I spent a total of $150 on the entire party! I used alot of what I already owned and borrowed from my mom for styling. When the pint-sized party guests arrived, they were given a tutu to wear if they did not wear their own. Sorry boys, it was an all-girls party! The birthday party started out with a brunch where we served oven roasted ham and cheese sliders (as seen on Pinterest!), tiny dancer croissant sandwiches with chicken salad, pigs in the blanket, french toast, homemade raspberry muffins, powdered donuts and an assortment of fruit including watermelon, the birthday girl’s favorite. We served orange juice, strawberry lemonade, and tea to drink. The 2-5 year old girls were given spill-proof cups I found on sale at Target. Those were a clean-up saver. We took the party outside where the girls first decorated a ballerina coloring page and then made their own ballerina princess crowns with glittery foam stickers. Of course, the tutu-clad girls danced, twirled and plied across the backyard. I set up a mirror for them to watch as they danced around. Ellah had a very faded, vintage-y pink ribbon cake made by my husband. It was strawberry with a raspberry filling and oh, so delicious. Each ballerina received a favor bag and single stem rose as the party ended just like a prima ballerina receives at the end of her performance. Ellah wore a tutu pettiskirt by Cheeky Chic Baby, top by Baby Gap, and shoes from Nordstrom. Her shoes were glittery, ballerina pink and the bow had a zipper edge – she loved them! Ellah also wore a vintage brooch on her tutu from my personal collection. Her gorgeous headband was ordered from Prim Couture Shop. The headband is as beautiful in person too! The decor: Pink was the obvious choice for a ballerina party, but I wanted to throw in other colors as well. I looked to the ballerina prints I’d purchased for the her room. I found turquoise in a couple of the prints. Turquoise has been a classic vintage color, looks adorable with pink, so I used it throughout the party. I spray painted unused frames I already had to frame the ballerina prints. I hung one at the cake table and the other two hung over the french doors leading into the party area. Since my daughter’s name is Ellah Rose, I wanted to incorporate roses in to the decor. I fell in love with Cath Kidston’s fabric which sparked the entire design for her birthday invitation and all the printable party accessories. I sell the vintage ballerina invitation and coordinating paper party accessories in my store! I asked my aunt of Kustom Kids of Kingwood to sew a pennant banner for the party, and I placed fabric flowers from Lemon Tree Studio at each end of the banner. The paper lanterns and all the paper goods were picked up at Party City. Perhaps my favorite purchase (besides the banner), was a vintage floral sheet from Eager Hands, that I used for the tablecloth. The print reminded me of my grandmother, so I snagged it for a great deal and the seller even threw in extra goodies like eyelet trim I used to trim the party hats. All of the vintage dishes I used were borrowed from my mother. The pieces displayed the candies, and I provided cupcake liners from Cupcake Social for guests to use for candy munching. All other decor were things I already owned keeping to my budget conscious party. My favorite party moment was watching her blow out her birthday candles. I cry every birthday party thinking how much my children have grown and how fast my time with them goes. There are only so many years I will see them, as children, blowing out their candles before they’re adults. I cherish it.” Vendor Credits: Styling, invitations & paper party accessories: Hello Love Designs Photography: Jennifer Schattle Photography Custom Banner: Mary Grant of Kustom Kids of Kingwood Vintage sheet: Eager Hands Fabric flowers: Lemon Tree Studio Cupcake liners: Cupcake Social & Target
