This is what Valerie said about the party- “My daughter turned FIVE this year. This particular birthday was a little bittersweet — a kind of graduation into the big-kid years. We wanted to celebrate this monumental birthday with a super special birthday that spoke to her. All who know our little Reesie, know how horse obsessed she is. We’re not quite sure where she gets it from, but we think it’s pretty precious. So, a horse themed party seemed appropriate. Luckily, here in the Western suburbs of Chicago, we are blessed to be surrounded by lots of beautiful horse farms. Her party was a super sweet celebration — a little bit rustic, a whole lot girly and 100% REESE! The kids had a ball riding real horses and enjoyed all that the rustic horse barn setting provided. We ordered pizza, had old fashioned pink lemonade and chocolate milk and all the kiddos were treated to a whole slew of yummy sweet treats to ensure a little “giddy up” in their step. It was a FABULOUS time. A birthday none of us with soon forget!”

Sofia wants to be a pilot when she grows up so I wanted to do this Airline party for her. Maybe she won’t be a pilot but I wanted her to look back at her 5th birthday and at least remember what her dreams were at that age. The children were entertained with airline themed games and a magician.”

I love crafting and never have the time for it, so her birthday gives me a good excuse to do it at least once a year!
For the party, I really wanted to play on my daughter’s favorite color (PINK, of course!). We used any and all shades of pink with tons of patterns. The dresser that was used for the dessert table as well as the rug underneath are from my daughter’s bedroom. She helped me make the ribbon curtain (from approximately 100yds of ribbon!) and the vases covered in ribbon. Lauren, of Capes & Crowns, came over one day to help me spray paint 4 chairs, 10 trays, and 10 frames with every shade of pink I could find. I really couldn’t have pulled this all together without the help! All of the decorations were DIY – the printables, the framed “5″, all frames, chairs, platters, vases, etc. I was lucky enough to find the paper straws and cupcake cups locally and they went with the theme perfectly!” Items used in this party available in Kara’s Party Ideas Shop:
