This is what Michelle said about planning the party- “My little fella loves Mickey Mouse and anything to do with water, especially boats. One day while visiting Paradise Pier at Disneyland’s California Adventure, it hit me! A nautical Mickey Mouse birthday party would be perfect for his 3rd birthday!
To set the tone, I started with the invitation utilizing traditional nautical elements with some Mickey Mouse inspired details in red, white, aqua and navy blue. With the nautical theme being trendy right now, it was easy to find decorative items to coordinate. I even found Seagulls to hang overhead for that extra touch. I also reused several elements from past parties in the same color palette to stay within my budget. I handcrafted most of the paper items using my Cricut. I also learned how to make paper boats and sailor knots on YouTube. I personalized sailor hats for each child and hand painted muslin favor bags with red anchors and filled them with foam boats, whistles, anchor tattoos, bubbles and fish necklaces. The dessert tables were filled with candy and cupcakes along with Mickey cake pops, marshmallow cereal treats and cookies made by my friends Jamie and Theresa.”

When I asked her what type of Birthday party she wanted, all she kept saying is ‘A Rapunzel party and I want Flynn Rider to come too!’ I was thinking to myself, how in the world can I pull this off with out it looking like a cheesy themed party? And where in the world can I find a real Rapunzel and Flynn?
Well, I did it! I did some research and there is a company in my hometown called Forever After Parties! Amazing, I tell ya! They have just about every Disney princess and character out there! And the greatest part of all is that the majority of the characters are music theater majors or graduates of college and they have amazing voices and can act the part amazingly well! They just made the party!!!! The kids were in AWE, as were the parents, especially the moment Rapunzel and Flynn started to sing ‘At last I see the Light’. I am not going to lie…. It seriously brought tears to my eyes. It was beautiful!
For the decorations, I knew I didn’t want bright purple and yellows so I was on a mission to find something more feminine and girly. I searched and searched! I found an amazing company that did the printables called Pepper Avenue by Jocelyn Pullen! Jocelyn was such a joy to work with! I also wanted to incorporate painting since my daughter loves to paint and so does Rapunzel. I set up art tables and brought the outdoors in by using tree stumps as the chairs. Each child then had a canvas and paints to use. I also asked a friend of mine, Kasey, to make a custom tablecloth which tied everything together.
I put party favors together in mini paint tins. There were little candies, paints, chalk and stickers! My main goal as a party planner is to do a party that will be fun for all of the kids, not just for the birthday girl or boy. So I like for the guests to leave with gifts of their own. Each child got to keep their paint tin with goodies and their canvas that they painted. They also each got a monogrammed art apron, personalized with their name! I love it when the kids leave smiling!”
This fabulous VINTAGE RACE CAR 3RD BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Keren Precel of Keren Precel Events! I love the muted colors and the large party table backdrop! Keren has so many cute ideas for us here!
Keren said this about planning the party- “We were in charge of planning, catering and designing this one of a kind vintage race car party for a cute little 3 year old boy: from designing the invitations right down to creating the giveaway favors for the guests. We only used eco friendly materials in the design.
The party venue was divided into 4 sections:
1. “The pit stop” – was the area where the kids got to decorate their own “Melissa and Doug” race cars.
2. “The race track” – we created a “wishing race track” for the little guests to write happy birthday wishes to the birthday boy. We laid down a wooden track, along with custom designed wish notes attached to small metal cars.
3. “The gas station” was the main table where the food was laid out. decor items on the table included a vintage like gas station, vintage plates and cars.
4. “The trophy section” – the favors. The adults got to take home a custom wrapped mason jar with home made delicious strawberry jam, and the kids got a 100% cotton bag, stamped with the party logo.
Custom design items included: invitations (shown in the vintage mailbox!), backdrop, vintage style signs and posters across the room.”
