Daisy Duck Themed 2nd Birthday Party
I wanted to make a stand that looked like a birthday cake and then use it to display cake pops. So, I crafted a large tiered stand out of styrofoam disks and hat boxes. I added embellishments with tulle trim, feather trim, and different colored ribbon. For the topper, I simply painted a chipboard #2 and then added adhesive rhinestones from the scrapbook department. For the cake pops, what else but little Daisy Ducks? The fabulously talented Autumn Lynn’s Chocolate Sins did the adorable pops for me! The beautiful chocolate covered Oreos with fondant toppers were done by Maria at Love and Sugar Kisses. I mean, could you die? They were little works of art! Suckers by Steph, as always, made me some beautiful chocolate suckers. She is one of my favorite edible vendors to work with and these were just beautiful!
For the favors, I wanted a super cute and very “Daisy” favor box, so I emailed Do at Piggy Bank Parties to see if she could do a high heel shaped favor box with a rounded toe. After some very hard work on her part, she delivered these COMPLETELY adorable high heels! They were the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life! And the awesome news is that she can do them in any color! These would be the perfect favor box for SO many girly party themes! To display them, I glued some scrapbook paper to a small shoe box that I had lying around my house from Christmas. Then I used the tulle trim for a little extra cutenesss.

This is what Leticia said about planning the party- “This was my daughter’s 2nd birthday party. She loves ice cream, so I thought that it would be a great theme for the party and she really loved it. I cannot describe the excitement I felt as she, at this age, thanked me for everything. She realized all the time and effort we spent on every single detail. She was surprised and excited as she saw the place transformed into an ice cream shop. I just can’t forget her little face at that moment. The thing I loved the most was the Styrofoam ice creams we made as centerpieces, they turned out great! People asked me where we bought them, but no, we created them!! I’d like to give a big thank you to my mother, Leticia! She really helped me out with a lot of things in the party, including the centerpieces. We gave ice cream plates as favors and ice cream bubbles to the kids. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the little bags everyone received.”

Paper Treat Bags Shannon said this about planning the party- ”I figured at age 2, this would be the last year I could call the shots on my son’s birthday party theme. Even though he’s growing up so fast, I knew I wanted a sweet theme that was still a bit babyish. His first and favorite song has been Twinkle Twinkle Little Star so I knew that was the way to go. I convinced a friend to save her old windows for me for the backdrop, which I backed with a navy shower curtain and tiny twinkle lights. I whipped up some puffy white clouds to hang above it using felt and batting. Then I went crazy with the desserts. From the gold glittered cake pops to the shooting star sugar cookies to the pineapple stars, everything was homemade. I added a bit of gold washi tape to all of my white serving pieces to tie it together a bit as well. Since I went crazy with the dessert table, I cut myself some slack and ordered pizza. But not before a Star Bar was born! I filled glass bottles with tea & lemonade and covered anything that stood still with those little gold teacher’s star stickers. Some homemade constellation embroidery told everyone about it!” Invites: Paper Cut Couture
