If you’re planning a birthday party, baby shower, or other celebration there are so many cute ideas here that could be used!
“This party was for my little boy 1st birthday. The theme was ‘Sailor Duck on his first trip’.”
This clever OM NOM MONSTER 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Laura Harper of My Pookie Designs. Any child who loves the game, ‘Cut the Rope’ would adore this party! So cute!
Laura said this about planning the party- “As I was thinking about what theme to do for my son’s 1st birthday party, I had already been thinking a monster theme. Then I thought of things about my little guy and the fact that he eats a lot came to mind, we call him our little om nom. Instantly I thought of the cute little green monster named Om Nom from the App game “Cut the Rope” and fell in love with the idea!
The color scheme went right along with the game- green, blue, cardboard and peppermint :) Peppermint candies were easy to do around Christmastime! Besides peppermints, the decor consisted of green polkadot background, cardboard boxes as stands, black yarn pompom Spider garland, and of course a cute plush Om Nom monster.
Since om nom refers to eating, we did a dinner and had a Pizza Bar. Simple, quick and delicious! The treats were few including: Om Nom cake, peppermint sugar cookies, peppermint swirl cookies (which were used for one of the games), Peppermint whipped dip with ginger thins, red Squeeze-it drinks and peppermint candies.
For the favors, everyone got a small box with a peppermint sugar cookie with a tag saying, “Thanks for cOMNOMing over!”
For the games we played: Cookie hang (like the donut hang), balloon bottom pop (with a twist-teams had to pop balloons and get 3 stars inside to win), Matching game with my lil guy’s pictures (another twist with a few cards with picture of the Spidey in game- if they turned it over they lost a turn) and a peppermint spin contest.
It’s amazing how much you can do with just a simple idea from a game like Cut the Rope. Very few details, so many possibilities.”

This precious LITTLE PRINCE THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Rogeria Britto of Sweet Memories Parties Design!
Rogeria said this about planning the party- “I had such a great time designing and styling this party! I am originally from Brazil and even though I live in Orlando – Fl for a long time, I have always wanted to work on this project, since The Little Prince is my favorite childhood book. In Brazil, this is a popular theme and last year I finally had a client asking me to design her son’s first Birthday Party using this amazing book as inspiration. The party was for around 90 people so it explains the amount of sweet treats and party favors! Brazilians usually celebrate “big”! I tried my best to represent all the characters on the tables and I used papier mache to make his little planet that also worked as my focal point. I just love handmade party stuff! One of the things I really think that works very well in kids parties, is to have small tables and chairs for them to sit and eat, that’s why I also incorporated their own sitting area! I know this isn’t something new, but when I see how happy they get when they find those small tables set up just for them, it makes me smile!”

How adorable is this RETRO 50′S RACE CAR THEMED FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Nikka Morell of Triple M Good Parties! I just love the cookies, cake, framed toy race cars…and more! There are so many darling ideas here!
Here’s what Nikka said about planning the party- “I created this race car/diner party for little 1 year old Zane. Zane is an only child and his parents are above the moon with this little man. Every milestone is celebrated with nothing held back.
This is a total DIY party. I jazzed up some boring trays with a can of spray paint and glued some wooden knobs on the bottom to give them some height. I then lined them with the black and white check paper to compliment the party. The bigger pedestals are wood candle sticks and the smaller ones are old glass candle sticks from The Goodwill, with a small piece of wood on top. The candy jars are my favorite so far! I used some modge podge to glue the fabric on terra cotta pots and then topped them off with a muscle car. I also glued some muscle cars to some card stock paper and placed them in black frames. The flower vases are old Starbucks bottles wrapped in color coordinated yarn. I wanted Zane’s party to shout that he was in fact turning 1. I wrapped a bunch canvas frames with fabric then glued some tissue paper on to make a 1 and give it some texture. I also wrapped some canvas frames in paper and then glued painted wood 1′s on. To bring the diner feel into the party, I used a vintage straw dispenser, a short napkin holder, some tall acrylic ice cream dishes and real black french fry holders. My old school looking popcorn machine fit perfect with the party. Zane turned 1….we all knew it…Zane had the best day!”
