Here’s what Benny had to say about photographing the party- “Kids grow up so quickly, especially when it comes to this little fellow. A year ago, I was asked by Ruth to photograph her newborn son, Edrei. So, when I was asked to be the photographer at his 1st Birthday party, I couldn’t believe a year had flown by! It was a very fun and exciting party, even as an adult, I must admit I had fun myself! The details and decorations for this party were amazing! Everything was so colorful and vivid! The farm theme for this party was perfect, especially since the party was located… well, at an actual barn. Everything tied so perfectly together and I’m sure this party is one the children will never forget. Ruth is an amazing party planner who most definitely will not disappoint!”

And next, another fantastic party submitted by Jennifer Burroughs of J.Kate Designs! This time it’s a darling FIRST BIRTHDAY MUSTACHE BASH!! And oh my goodness, could it be any cuter?!
There are SO many adorable party ideas here. Some of my favorite party elements-
The mustache cupcake toppers
The wooden mustache underneath the drink station
The suitcases and party table backdrop with the happy birthday mustache banner
Jennifer said this about planning the party- ”It was an absolute honor to be asked to plan a first birthday party for this little guy, Oaks! We call him Mighty Oaks! He was adopted from an orphanage in July of 2012. His parents waited soooo long for their dream to come true of being able to adopt! Oaks’ momma, Angel, is the sweetest person I have ever met! The type of person you want to surround yourself with all day long. She is always smiling, laughing and living life to the absolute fullest! Oaks has one amazing family! His daddy, Dusty, flew thousands and thousands of miles to bring him home for the rest of the family to meet… including Oaks’ big sister Auburn!
Angel was so fun and easy to work with in planning this party! Our first meeting was so easy because Angel already knew that she wanted a mustache bash. After that, it just came down to the style and colors! With this party being only a week before Christmas, I thought it would be a fun idea to have Santa show up and hand out gifts to the children! The look on the kids’ faces when he pulled out a present with their name on it was priceless.
For food, we served ‘little man’ foods, like pigs in a blanket, mini pizzas and Frito chili pies. There was also almond bark popcorn and white cheddar popcorn in cute dotted paper cones, along with veggie and fruit stache cups!
The kids LOVED the photo booth and choosing all of the different party props! The favors were Christmas ornaments with glitter mustaches tied with ribbon and wrapped in a pretty white box and silk bow!”

This charming TEDDY BEAR 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Júlia Herzog of Festa com Gosto! Such a cute theme for a first birthday party! You can tell that a lot of love went into this sweet celebration.
Júlia said this about planning the party- ”We started our party styling business ‘Festa com Gosto’ exactly one year ago and this was one of our earlier projects and also one of our dearest!
Our client was this really sweet mom that wanted a bear theme for her son’s first birthday party. Baby Arthur is just the cutest, sweetest baby we met, so we really wanted to do something big for this family! Here in Brazil we’ve been through a slight fever of bear theme parties over this past years, always pretty much looking the same, baby blue for boys and light pink for girls… we were just so bored by it we convinced Arthur’s mom to do something a little different and she trusted us completely (thank you Lisi!). We didn’t want to use those everyday bear plushes, so we had fabric bears made especially for the occasion. The party had a lot of denim and different red fabric prints and that gave it a boyish touch that all the guests loved. We had a picture of every month in Arthur’s first year of life that delighted everyone, lots of balloons and buntings to celebrate this little prince!
The table was covered with the beautiful sweets Isa Herzog makes, there were exact replicas of our denim bears on cupcakes, mini cupcakes and cookies. Apparently all the ladies at the party battled to take one bear cupcake home! The different flavors of brigadeiros were also a big hit, there were none left at the end of the party and we completed the dessert table with popular Brazilian candies.
For favors, the guests were happy to take home the mini cupcakes in denim covered boxes.
All in all was a great party that Arthur enjoyed until the end with lots of smiles along with the glowing parents! We loved it!!”

It doesn’t get much cuter than this WOODLAND OWL BUDDIES 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Stephanie Keeping of Spaceships and Laser Beams!
Stephanie said this about planning the party- “With this dessert table, we wanted to prove that boy’s first birthday parties could be beautiful. The theme is based on our Woodland Buddies Collection from the Spaceships and Laser Beams Etsy Shop. Sweet treats for the dessert table included mini baked vanilla donuts (raccoon bites), almond meringues (owl kisses), a caramel swirl birthday cake and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting. To keep the budget low, the flowers selected were white carnations. By creating a cluster of the same flower, it helps it look a little more expensive. We also created a gauzy curtain with 4 yards of tulle, which was a bargain at a dollar a yard.”

This creative FLANNEL & FROST FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Heidi Wight of Ira And Lucy. What an adorable and original party theme with so many cute ideas!
Heidi said this about planning the party- “This is my son’s, Jagger’s, 1st Birthday that we had on the 29th of December. He’s an almost-Christmas-baby, with his birthday landing on the 27th, so I wanted to make sure it was still special and that it was not Christmas-y. For winter babies, especially boys, all I kept seeing were different versions of a winter wonderland or “one”derland. So, I mixed it up a bit and did “Jagger’s Flannel & Frost 1st Birthday” where everyone was invited to wear their favorite flannel to the party.
I designed the invitation with a blue plaid/flannel background with chalkboard styled writing and a vintage fawn found from searching old vintage birthday cards. I love how it all came together! I framed one of the invites to feature on the dessert table.
I handmade my own white tissue poms in different sizes to hang above the table as a way of making it feel more festive and wintery. My DIY frosty branches we cut from trees Jagger’s grandparent’s farm. It was quite the glittery glue adventure! We mixed epsom salt, course and fine glitter with a high quality fake snow blend from Hobby Lobby. We then hand painted glue onto the branches and sprinkled the snow mixture onto the branches. They turned out gorgeous! I used the same snow mixture on cinnamon scented pine cones and placed them around for decor. Votives we have for home decor got the same treatment, except instead of glue I painted on soap. The snow sticks to the wet soap and it’s removable later!
The dessert table along with the hot cocoa bar were spruced up a bit using some of my business’s (Ira & Lucy Vintage Rentals & Styling) props. I love the vintage blue suitcase and the tarnished silver accents! I put up Jagger’s grandpop’s old wooden skis next to the table and had the front porch decorated with an antique sled and ice skates. It gave it that chilly wintery feel. You’ll also see the vintage tennis shoes placed near the cake – those were my husband’s when he was a little boy! Of course, I couldn’t go without paper striped straws and some old mason jars!
Jagger’s cake was simple – I wanted to get a cute little fancy one, but found that I really wanted to make his first birthday cake for sentimental reasons. I love how it looked on the vanity mirror tray. I’m no baker…so I utilized pinterest and found recipes I knew I can managed! The snow ball cupcakes were the most fun to make! I kept the rest of the food items all in the neutral white tones to match the decor and theme.
Since it was a 1st Birthday Party, our guests were mostly adults, so we made the festivities a bit more “spirited” with adding some mixers to our hot cocoa bar. Guests could blend their own cocoa to their specific enjoyment. It was a lot of fun!”
