Chevron Print & Race Car 1st Birthday Party Dol

I love the tradition of the Korean Dol or Doljabi where the birthday girl or boy is presented with items like a football, stethoscope, string and microphone and whichever item the child picks up foretells what his future will hold! What a fun and interesting way to celebrate a first birthday! A few ideas that I like in this modern chevron print party are:

Here’s what Vana said about the party- “We had a mix of themes for our little man’s 1st birthday party. The main one was ‘Movie in the Park’ and Little Man and puppies. I incorporated my son’s 12 months of silhouettes (I drew his silhouette each month of his life until his first birthday). And of course our little man was as dapper as he could be. DIY Bow ties were part of his attire, decorations, props and party favors for his guy friends and bow clips for the lady friends. The dessert table consisted of cupcakes, macaroons, powder donuts and cake pops as well as sweet marshmallows. Lots of preppy stripes and dots went without saying – green and different hues of blue, and of course yellow – Hello Spring! I created a cute sign “Movie in the park. Grab a blanket and enjoy!” and lots of pillows and blankets for the kids to grab and get comfortable watching a puppy movie. Some of the fun DIY projects included the topiary trees made with boxwood balls, bow ties and bow hair clips and silhouette banner. We worked with the talented Kelly Lyden of WH Hostess to perfect each detail of the party. Kelly’s eye for detail and all things party, made this party extra special. Vintage Hot Air Balloon 1st Birthday Party

Here’s what Camila said about planning the party- “This was my son Lorenzo’s baptism / 1st birthday party. I am Brazilian, my husband American and my son was born in the US. My family is in Brazil so I wanted Lorenzo’s first birthday and baptism to be there. I have decided on this theme because of the multicutural background my son has – me as an Italian decent and my husband being Cuban/Colombian/American just add up for this awesome international ancestry my son has :) I contacted Fabiana Moura Projetos Personalizados with my theme already in mind. After many emails we decided on a color palette and all the details from the kids to the cake tables. The kids table was done by me. I printed the placemats on the internet and made all the details for the kids using washi tape, fun balloon themed tags that I custom ordered from Esty and fun striped straws. I also made the kids goodie bags with paper bags covered with world themed craft paper. It was a very fun project and I loved the way it came out. Inside each bag we gave the kids a kit with a little fun note pad, crayon holder, crayons and fun balloon stickers. For The cake table I brought some vintage items from the US and also used some vintage items from my family. Fabiana came up with the amazing cake table decor. Each adult table had a balloon, custom made by Fabiana and it was very very cute! The party was a hit and each and every detail was to die for! I really appreciate Fabiana’s vision and her Ability to make my dream come true with exchange of emails :). I couldn’t ask for anything better or more beautiful!”

Here’s what Louise said about planning the party- “We held Big Will’s 1st Birthday Party at my home in Durban, South Africa. It was a small gathering of close friends and family. I just love the Sock Monkey Theme!

Decor:
To make a party look great you need to focus on the details. We created this look by using our designs from our latest Sunshine Party printable set – Sock Monkey Inspired. All digital design elements can be printed on a home PC printer and handmade. This makes the party unique and still affordable! With a little thought and imagination this party can look great! For the table, we used a blue table cloth with hessian overlays. We made the bunting ourselves.

All the printed items can be found at SunshineParties on Etsy. This includes the Happy Birthday banner, Mini Cake Bunting, Food labels, Cupcake toppers all laid out to create this stunning look.

Food:
The birthday Cake was a yummy red velvet layered cake with precious mini bunting on top. We also had the cutest sock monkey cake pops. Liquorice hung from a container as Monkey vines. Lint Chocolate was personalised with labels to be monkey bars and there were some very yummy peanut butter cupcakes. Don’t forget the monkey nuts (we used chocolate balls for this)!”
