Details

The flag of Uruguay was first adopted in 1830. The flag has 9 horizontal stripes alternating between white and blue. On the canton is the Sun of May, which has 16 rays, alternating between triangular and wavy rays. The original flag had 17 stripes in 1828, but it was reduced to nine by law in 1830.
