90th Birthday Colorful Garden Party

This 90TH BIRTHDAY COLORFUL GARDEN PARTY was submitted by Kenna O’Brien of Miss Party Mom. What a lovely celebration celebrating something so special! You can tell that Kenna loves her husband’s grandmother very much!

Here is what Kenna had to say about planning the party- “This party was for my husband’s sweet Grandmother, Roberta who turned 90 this Summer. My mother-in-law envisioned lots of bright floral garden-style decor mixed with a pool side feel, so I did just that. We rented the pool deck at the Historic Santa Maria Inn in Santa Maria, CA and I was assisted by their Event Coordinator, Stephanie Purple, with set up. This party was incredibly fun to shop for with all of the great colors and girly touches. I really wanted to create something with a “90″ in it to honor such a special age so I crafted (from muffin size cupcake tins) one to be the main table centerpiece. I ombred it pink with spray paint and the entire thing cost me $8 and took about an hour from start to finish. My friend Hannah Henry and I worked on the branches that surrounded it, they are made of of scrapbook paper, cut in to leaves with floral wire sandwiched in between them. This was tedious but costs next to nothing if you have even just small scraps of scrapbook paper lying around!

The graphics really made the table pop, from the pennants to the cupcake picks, Jodi Broglio of Jolio Design really helped me tie it all together with the perfect party package of graphics.

Other special details from the party included our Family Tree table which had photos of Roberta through the years- as well as her family. They were displayed in antique looking brightly spray painted frames and our version of a guest book (frame matting for a future party photo) was also on the table to be signed.

Hannah & I made flower and “90″ shaped sugar cookies for the party favors, I handmade the cake pops and Gina’s Piece of Cake in the Santa Maria Mall did the center cake and all of the cupcakes.”

Having a Ball Mason Jar 90th Birthday Party

How clever and lovely is this ‘HAVING A BALL’ MASON JAR THEMED 90TH BIRTHDAY PARTY?! It was creatively put together and submitted by Gretchen Brittain of Three Little Monkeys Studio.

Happy birthday sweet Hattie!

Party details at bottom of post…

Party details and description from Gretchen-
“My Grandmother hit a huge milestone this year when she turned 90. She is the most incredible person I’ve ever known. She is so funny and sassy, and full of energy. She truly enjoys life, so celebrating her incredible milestone with beloved friends and family was a must.

When my mom and I sat down and thought about themes, we kept reminiscing about my grandparents farm and my grandmother’s gardens filled with zinnias. So a zinnias and vintage mason jar birthday theme was born, which we called “Having a Ball”, because it perfectly sums up my grandmother and her joyful personality.

I contacted Krista of Cookies With Character, and she brought my dream to life with her incredible mason jar cookies. We personalized the mason jars with, “Having a Ball Since 1922″, my grandmother’s birth year.

I contacted my favorite fondant gal, Brittany from Edible Details, and she made some gorgeous fondant zinnias, which graced some cupcakes from our favorite local bakery, Three Women and an Oven.

Three Women and an Oven also bake the gorgeous cake, which I topped with a cake bunting I made out of bamboo skewers, burlap twine and a fat quarter of blue fabric I picked up from JoAnn’s. I cut out triangles along the fold and secured them with glue dots.

My mom and I made the Pie in a Jar party favors, which were a huge hit. We made peach and cherry, which we baked right in the jars following all of the tips from the gals at Our Best Bites. We covered the tops with burlap ribbon from the floral department of JoAnn’s.

For decorations, we grabbed many things from around the house and purchased a few items from our favorite vintage flea market, Good Ju Ju. We used my grandmother’s doilies and layered them on a white tablecloth, and made a doily bunting from burlap twine and flea market doilies to grace the front of the table. We used a mix of old and purchased vintage blue mason jars to hold utensils and our floral arrangements. We purchased old windows from Good Ju Ju that we used to create a photo display of my grandmother through the years highlighted by a gorgeous wreath from Sweet Georgia Sweet.

Since zinnias weren’t quite in season yet, we subbed Gerbera daisies in bright orange and pink from Dalton’s Flowers.

The party was so much fun, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room when she walked in.”
