Dr. Seuss 1st Birthday Party

This darling DR SEUSS THEMED FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Nikka Morell of Triple M Good Parties! I just love all the clever ideas & decor! Nikka did such a good job on every detail!

Nikka said this about planning the party- “When my youngest of three kids turned one this summer, I knew it had to be fun. He is my only summer baby, so I finally got to plan a party outside. My 2 older kids were Thing 1 & Thing 2, and the birthday boy was Cat in the Hat.

I made all the decorations and food. It was fun to make things not so perfect, like an off centered cupcake stand and tall skinny candy jars.

I fell in love with the red, white and teal combination of colors. The ‘real’ Cat in the Hat came to read a book and the kids loved playing all the games, including pin the tail on Horton.”

Chevron Print Sesame Street 2nd Birthday Party

This CHEVRON PRINT SESAME STREET 2ND BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Julia Shultz of Let’s Have a Ball! Parties and Events. What a cute idea…mixing sesame street with fun chevron & polka dot patterns!

Julia said- “The birthday girl, Addison, loves Sesame Street , and Addison ’s mommy and Mimi loved the look of the Girly Elmo Birthday Party by Kelly Lyden (of WH Hostess) that they saw on Hostess with the Mostess. So using that party as inspiration, I got to work!

I started by ordering several chevron printed fabrics, including a beautiful multi-colored designer Riley Blake print. I used these fabrics to create table runners, fabric strip garlands, the fabric covered Styrofoam “A” decoration, party hat, bib, and the adorable little party dress.

For each party I style, I always like to include a welcome table situated close to the entrance to greet guests, setting the tone for the party. For the centerpiece of Addison ’s table, I used stacked colorful suitcases with the fabric chevron print “A” on top. There were framed pictures of the birthday girl, a framed welcome sign, and some delicious chocolate covered treats with Elmo face toppers. I created a personalized card stock banner and hung it on the front of the table.

My favorite part of a party is the sweets table, and this table was truly so much fun to design! I created the backdrop using blue chevron print mixed in with a solid yellow fabric. I then hung hot pink custom painted frames with pictures of Addison on each side of a large “2” that I cut from Styrofoam and covered in a hot pink satin fabric. I topped the backdrop off with 2 fabric garlands. I then made the colorful ruffled tablecloth using a mix of solid and polka dots in hot pink, orange, blue, yellow, green, red, and purple. Using candlesticks and wooden circle plaques painted pink, I made several stands for the treats. I incorporated the chevron print onto the candy labels and cupcake toppers, as well as my custom “Sweets” sign. The centerpiece of the table was the cute cake topped with Elmo. There were cupcakes, mini cupcakes, gumballs, chevron print iced sugar cookies, lollipops, chocolate Elmo pops, chocolate covered Oreos with sesame street character and chevron print toppers, cake pops, striped candy sticks, and pixie sticks.

I kept the table centerpieces simple, but cute. I used chevron print runners and fabric squares on each table. Some centerpieces were candy filled suitcases or bowls, and the others were like an over-sized cupcake topper that I made out of card stock which read “Happy 2nd Birthday, Addison” and accented with an Elmo face graphic. I placed these into colored glass bottles or colorful striped tin pails. Each table was then accented with tissue poms in various colors.

There were several activity stations for the children to enjoy. Each has a custom sign placed inside wooden frames which I painted blue. At “Zoe’s Jewelry Station” children created their own edible necklaces and bracelets using gummy lifesavers, fruit loops, cheerios, etc. Addison ’s favorite was “Abby Cadabby’s Flying Fairy Dress Up” which was filled with necklaces, bracelets, hair accessories, rings, sunglasses, tutus, and all sorts of cute little dress up items which the children could take home as party favors. There was also “ Addison ’s World Face Painting”, “Big Bird’s Bird Seed Treasure Hunt”, and “Bert and Ernie’s Rubber Duckie Pond”. Another adorable feature was a custom made photo prop board, handmade by one of the birthday girl’s family members, where kids could get their picture taken with Elmo.”

Cookie Monster Cookies and Milk Birthday Party

Oh goodness, if you have a Cookie Monster lover in your home then this is the party for you! So many cute ideas here! How darling is this COOKIE MONSTER COOKIES & MILK 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Lauren Borquez of Being the Borquez’s! Lauren said- “When I started planning Logan’s first birthday party the first two things that came to my mind is his love for milk and his unique, sweet personality. A cookies and milk party for my little one seemed like an obvious choice. I wanted the feel of a classic cookies and milk party but I also wanted to make sure that Cookie Monster himself played a role. After all, he snuggles with a plush Cookie Monster every night before bedtime and lets be honest who doesn’t adore Cookie Monster?! I wanted to make sure that this party had an intimate and sentimental touch. It was a family only affair and I asked each family member to bake their favorite cookie. Those cookies, along with a Cookie Monster cake and cupcakes were served to our guests. Milk was the obvious drink of choice. I wanted to make sure everything was cohesive. The color scheme was brown and blues. The focal point was the dessert table that the cookies and main cake was featured on . That area I wanted to be primarily brown with the idea that as you grazed on cookies galore the color scheme would then carry you to the kitchen island where blue as well as Cookie Monster become the focus. To tie the areas together I had Cookie Monster footprints leading the way. All things are blue in the monsters world even the blue “monster milk” and blue cookies served there. Lastly, for the favor table there were two choices of favors. Since the party was family oriented we had many adult guests. Cookies in a jar mixes served as the adult favors and take home cookie monster boxes were for the children to bag up their favorite cookies from the party. We had a wonderful party. We had a smiling one year old the entire time that eventually was blue from head to toe. It was everything a first birthday party should be with the main ingredient being lots of love from a family that adores him. Lots of cookies didn’t hurt either :).” Vendors and Credits- Photography : Danielle McCann Photography Cake & Cupcakes : HotMommas Bakery Tabledrop : Linckids Cookies & Milk Graphic Backdrop : Ta*Love Cookie Yard Prop : Adorable Decorations Cookie Monster Wreath: The Knock Knock Factory Invites: Scrap Your Story Printables : BabyBuns Designs Party items used that are available in Kara’s Party Ideas Shop: Glass Milk Bottles Paper Straws Tissue Pom Poms Polka Dot Balloons White Gable Boxes

Muppets Inspired 5th Birthday Party

This MUPPETS INSPIRED 5TH BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Dina Hafez-Suggs of Deliciously Darling Events is absolutely amazing! A party CHUCK full of inspiration and ideas! Every single detail is just incredible!

“My son, Malik, just loves the Muppets! He fell in love with them instantly. Just looking at him watch the original Muppets Movie (circa 1979) brought back lots of childhood memories. I remember watching the Muppet Show with my parents. So a Muppets themed birthday it was. The Muppet characters are so colorful & playful and I knew that I wanted to capture that in the design so I went with a rainbow pallet.

Tablescape & Decorations:
This party was a little challenging in the sense that I really wanted it to be “inspired” rather than character-image driven. That’s where the idea came of turning the characters into the letters of my kiddo’s name and having that be the “glue” that ties the party together. I came across a very talented artist, Mike Boon, who actually created a Muppet Letter Alphabet. He created Malik’s Muppety name logo that was used throughout the party – from the straw flags to the cake toppers.

The kids tables had wooden plates and buckets that contained beautiful stamped spoons and Izzie sparkling juice, a straw and a napkin. The kids loved the fact they had their very own bucket of “uten-sacles” as my son calls them {utensils + tentacles = uten-sacles}. I created simple but adorable centerpieces using fresh flowers from Trader Joes and a paper embellishment that I made. The white ceramic vases were decorated using washi tape.

For the dessert table banners, I enlisted the help of the Glitter Whisperer herself, Kristy from The Purple Pug. She created the absolutely beautiful Happy Birthday Malik banner and the “mahna mahna” billboards. I feel so special that she created one of her new designs for Malik’s party! The Animal, Dr. Teeth & St. Pepper vintage posters were created by Nick from Retro Art Prints. The quality of these prints is incredible. I loved the pictures so much I have them hanging in my house. The confetti garland hanging above Dr. Teeth’s candy table was created by Peas and Thankyous. I just love how they look hanging above the candy table.

Favors & Candy Station: Naturally our favor station had to be themed and my son helped pick the theme. We decided on a Fozzi Bear Joke Shop table filled with silly items that the kids {and} adults can enjoy. I tried to really go with what Fozzi uses in the movies, little rubber chickens, over-sized glasses, mustache & eye glasses and of course whoopee cushions. I think the parents may have enjoyed this item the most. The kids seem to have this befuddled look on their faces and one parent was like “no worries, I’ll show you as soon as we get home”.

Dr Teeth’s Candy station was my favorite. The phenomenal artwork by Nick from Retro Art Print just “made” this table incredible. I knew the minute I saw this poster that I had to have a Dr. Teeth Candy station to display it on! The candy was beautiful and colorful. Vintage Confections’ created the most adorable filigree letters and numbers. I just love them. For the jar tags, I knew that I wanted to work in the “Life’s a Happy Song” Song. So I created these little tags that looked like old school movie boards and wrote out the lyrics to the song. What’s my favorite tag? Why, “Life’s a fillet of fish” of course!

Sweets Table: I have a little bit of a sweet tooth, okay it is a huge sweet tooth. I love all things sweet so when I was sketching out the desserts table I knew I needed a really cool backdrop and a really awesome cake! For the backdrop, I used beautiful fringed garlands and a little Gonzo being carried away by a bunch of balloons. Gonzo and the balloons was a reference to the very first Muppet movie and my son’s favorite part of that movie. The ruffled rainbow cake was made by my sweet cousin Reema Hafez. She and her girls flew down to attend Malik’s party. Reema is an incredible baker. She whipped up the animal cookies and the French Macarons as well. The incredible fondant work was by Brittany of Edible Details. I just have to say she is a total joy to work with and so very sweet! She created the Muppet letter toppers on the cake that left everyone speechless when the cake was brought out. I love all of her other creations for this part y especially the clock for the “Time to Meet the Muppets” push up pops. The Marshmallow Studio created adorable Animal Marshmallow pops. Malik couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw it. They were not only super cute but delicious as well. Other yummy items on the dessert table included: rainbow jello {made by cousin Amy}, popcorn, red velvet and confetti cupcakes, brownie push-up pops, sugar cookies, muppet cake pops and French macarons. All the cake plates & acrylic stands, paper favor bags and straws came from Shop Sweet Lulus.

This party was so wonderful and a memory I will always cherish. It was so nice to have family down to celebrate with Malik. He ran up to me and told me that it was the best day ever and thanked me for planning his party. It was the sweetest moment of the whole day. Of course his face was covered in face paint, smudged cotton candy and chocolate but it was still the sweetest moment. Thank you to the wonderful Lauren from Lauren Nicole Studios for capturing all of these moments!”
