This is what Kenna said about planning the party- “I threw this party for my son after a year of him talking about his “Peter Pan 4th Birthday Party” (he’s definitely the son of a party planner!). He pitched me a lot of ideas, including the cake with flying characters! I love how much he is in to Peter Pan so I really wanted to try and turn our backyard in to a Never Land the best I could. We had a wood cut Scull Rock, turned our play structure in to Captain Hook’s ship, had a water table as our Mermaid Lagoon, an official tee pee Indian Camp, a tarped out Crocodile Creek (with a blow up croc!) and improvised with “Peter Pan and the Lost Boy’s Pub” (the kids eating area). I hand made my kids costumes, (Peter Pan and Tinkerbell) and my son loved yielding his sword!

Some of my favorite decorations were the mini favor bottles, Pixie Dust for the girls and a Never Land Treasure Map for the boys…the kids really loved them and they were the first to go. I hand made all of the character favor bags- which were another favorite.

We had a treasure hunt where kids took the maps from their place settings at their food tables and set out to hunt down X’s, which they then turned in for pirate treasure! We also had a treasure chest pinata full of candy and jewels!

I wanted the entrance in to the backyard to be the Darling Nursery so I designed the dessert table to look like you could be right in their nursery! This was fun. I had a striped backdrop from another party so we hung this up on a PVC frame as the wall and went from there. Our Darling bed had a “cupcake quilt” on it, and vases full of Tinkerbell Wand Cake Pops” and “Peter Pan Oreo Pops” The table focused on the window scene in Peter Pan and I used my son’s Peter Pan plush dolls for this- which he loved.

The sign pointing to each “land” was a combined effort between my husband- who built it, my friend Hannah who did the illustrations and I did all of the lettering. It cost us nothing as we used scrap wood and already had the paints!

“Peter Pan & The Lost Boys Pub” was a large piece of wood set upon some palettes and draped with burlap. My husband cut up a tree stump and seating for 14 was born!

The cellophane rainbow was a friend’s idea and wasn’t as hard as I imagined it would be to make. We put some batting for clouds at the bottom and our ‘Welcome to Never Never Land’ scroll sign in the middle to welcome everyone in.”

This is what Elvira said about planning the party- “This year I decided to pick one of my son’s current favorite TV shows for a theme for his 2nd birthday party. The theme I chose was ‘Jake & the Neverland Pirates’. I had one caveat with this theme, which was to pull off a creative Neverland Pirate’s party without using skulls. Personally I am not a fan of skulls, especially for kids, but if you know anything about pirate parties, skulls are everywhere! I definitely had a challenge on my hands, but I saw it as a creative opportunity to make a lot of DIY decor items for the party – fun, fun, fun!

First, I created a Jake & The Neverland Pirates invitation to mail out to close family and friends.

After the invitations were taken care of, I went to work brainstorming ideas for the decor design and details that would embody the theme. Soon after, I began shopping for items at my favorite stores: Dollar Tree & Michael’s! After a month or two of planning and making DIY projects, it all came together beautifully for my son’s 2nd birthday. A huge THANK YOU to Danny Mariscal from The F Stop Design & Photography for taking the awesome pictures that captured all of my hard work!

Boy did the birthday boy and his guests have a blast! The kids, and even some adults, got to enjoy inflatable slides and a foam shooting range for 1.5 hours, plus face-painting, caricature drawings, and pirate favors for all the kids. It brought joy to my heart to see all the smiles on our friends and family’s faces.

Some of the amazing DIY projects and details you will find in this party are: the burlap table runner, burlap bunting and ship sail cake toppers, treasure chest centerpieces with gold doubloons and gems, treasure chest and pirate booty favors, pirate flag and fishing net backdrop, birthday banner, treasure maps made from coloring pages, cake and cupcake stands, goblets, and descriptive tent cards. I am proud to say that every single detail of the party was designed, coordinated and/or created by me, except for the Jake & the Neverland Party stickers, Jake & The Neverland Party shirt, and the gorgeous cupcakes and cake pops that were made by Rebekah from Let Them Eat Cake! There was cutting, painting, burning, designing, tearing, purchasing, planning and many more activities involved in these DIY projects and did you notice that I was able to pull it off without including any skulls?! :)”

We took a lot of ideas from Pinterest, Etsy, Google and tons of party blogs to pull this together. It meant many weeks of painting crates and cutting out penants but I think this was so much fun and I know Captain Noah and all his friends had a blast.”

Peter Pan 4th Birthday Party

I am in love with this PETER PAN 4TH BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Jenny Keller of Jenny Cookies!! Not only does Jenny style exquisite desserts, but she throws some fabulous parties as well!

Jenny said- “My sweet little Hudson turned 4 a few weeks ago, which I can still hardly believe. We celebrated Hudson’s fourth birthday by throwing him a Peter Pan party. He was thrilled with his invitations we sent out in bottles, and could hardly wait to wear his Peter Pan costume. He was a little disappointed though when he discovered the costume didn’t make him fly. Trust me, he tried jumping off the bed. (Thank goodness it was just the bed.)

The Kellers became Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Wendy Darling, and Princess Tigerlily for Hudson’s big day!

His party took place on the beach at Kayak Point State Park. We woke up to rainclouds and sprinkles but by the time we got out to the beach the rain had stopped and the sun was shining. It was a birthday miracle. (If you know me, it rains about 75% of the time I’m planning an outdoor party.)

The kids had a blast at the beach. They had a Peter Pan picnic on a pirate ship table, dug for buried treasure, sword fought mean Captain Hook, had their faces painted, and of course ate more sugar than their parents would have agreed to.”
