Here’s what Vana said about the party- “We had a mix of themes for our little man’s 1st birthday party. The main one was ‘Movie in the Park’ and Little Man and puppies. I incorporated my son’s 12 months of silhouettes (I drew his silhouette each month of his life until his first birthday). And of course our little man was as dapper as he could be. DIY Bow ties were part of his attire, decorations, props and party favors for his guy friends and bow clips for the lady friends. The dessert table consisted of cupcakes, macaroons, powder donuts and cake pops as well as sweet marshmallows. Lots of preppy stripes and dots went without saying – green and different hues of blue, and of course yellow – Hello Spring! I created a cute sign “Movie in the park. Grab a blanket and enjoy!” and lots of pillows and blankets for the kids to grab and get comfortable watching a puppy movie. Some of the fun DIY projects included the topiary trees made with boxwood balls, bow ties and bow hair clips and silhouette banner. We worked with the talented Kelly Lyden of WH Hostess to perfect each detail of the party. Kelly’s eye for detail and all things party, made this party extra special. Photography is by Kelly Allison Photography. All paper decor from Le Papier Studio. Sweets by Frost Cake and Cupcake Design.”

And next, another fantastic party submitted by Jennifer Burroughs of J.Kate Designs! This time it’s a darling FIRST BIRTHDAY MUSTACHE BASH!! And oh my goodness, could it be any cuter?!
There are SO many adorable party ideas here. Some of my favorite party elements-
The mustache cupcake toppers
The wooden mustache underneath the drink station
The suitcases and party table backdrop with the happy birthday mustache banner
Jennifer said this about planning the party- ”It was an absolute honor to be asked to plan a first birthday party for this little guy, Oaks! We call him Mighty Oaks! He was adopted from an orphanage in July of 2012. His parents waited soooo long for their dream to come true of being able to adopt! Oaks’ momma, Angel, is the sweetest person I have ever met! The type of person you want to surround yourself with all day long. She is always smiling, laughing and living life to the absolute fullest! Oaks has one amazing family! His daddy, Dusty, flew thousands and thousands of miles to bring him home for the rest of the family to meet… including Oaks’ big sister Auburn!
Angel was so fun and easy to work with in planning this party! Our first meeting was so easy because Angel already knew that she wanted a mustache bash. After that, it just came down to the style and colors! With this party being only a week before Christmas, I thought it would be a fun idea to have Santa show up and hand out gifts to the children! The look on the kids’ faces when he pulled out a present with their name on it was priceless.
For food, we served ‘little man’ foods, like pigs in a blanket, mini pizzas and Frito chili pies. There was also almond bark popcorn and white cheddar popcorn in cute dotted paper cones, along with veggie and fruit stache cups!
The kids LOVED the photo booth and choosing all of the different party props! The favors were Christmas ornaments with glitter mustaches tied with ribbon and wrapped in a pretty white box and silk bow!”

Here’s what Maureen had to say about the party- “We are excited to introduce our Mr & Miss Mustache Valentine’s Day Party Printables Collection!
We took some feedback from our facebook poll and decided to create a collection that was perfect for bothboys and girls. We all know the “mustache” trend is in full force right now – for both boys and girls! Go into any toddler, tween or teeny bopper store and you’ll find a mustache or two on the clothes and decor.
Our new Printable Mustache Valentine’s Day Collection includes both the boy and girl colorways of the designs! That means 2 of each design – one in a boy colorway (red/blue/white/black) and one in a girl colorway (red/pink/white/black).
Yesterday Adria and I put together a quick display of all of the fun designs in our Mustache Valentine’s Day party and card designs. We had one night to prep the little set, but it was totally “doable” and inexpensive by pulling cake stands and props from lots of past shoots. It was fun to use our props from past shoots to put together a little setup that anyone could do! Read on for the details…. and more photos!
A few favorite details were:
- Printable “Mystery Valentine Message” Decoder and Envelope Pocket. (The kids can decode the secret message by matching up the mustache style with the letters!) Fold and insert into the printable mystery message envelope. Include a pencil with a printable flag for an extra bonus!
- Chocolate bar wrappers that say “sweets for your candy “stache””
- “Do you fancy my moo-stache?” valentines cards (Funny!)
- “Keep the gum out of your mustache” Card with a space to include a pack of gum
- Bag toppers that say “You “must” enjoy some now, and “stache” some for later”…. fill with any yummy treat!
One of my favorite printable from the printable collection is the Mystery Valentine’s Day Message and Decoder. We include a little cute printable envelope template (shown above) that you can print and use to carry the fun mystery message. The kids can decode the message with their printable flag embellished pencil (pencils found at Target for $1!). They can match up the mustache style with the letter to decode the message. I have a feeling my boys’ friends will love this! (Also comes in the pink color way!)
How fun are these ring pops that we encased in the little clear container from Nashville Wraps? We added a little 3/4″ party logo from the printable collection and some twine (from The Twinery) to make it all cute. “You are one of a kind”… anyone would love to receive that valentine!
Above, we displayed some dressed up Sweethearts boxes with printed chevron red/white paper and added a printable 2″ party logo from the collection. I love dressing up the most simple treats like this! We also showed our printable bag toppers and our kisses labels (3/4″ party logos).
Our cupcakes were placed in cupcake wrappers from Bella Cupcake Couture and we added a chocolate heart lollipop into the center of the cupcake with a printable party flag. (Cupcake + Chocolate lollipop = Super sweet treat!) We also displayed red and white macarons on the top tier and added a little mustache printable silhouette on top to tie it all together.
Black gable boxes from Nashville Wraps were embellished with Red/white chevron printed paper and we added the “Thanks for being sweet” favor hangtag. This would be perfect for classroom parties, Valentine’s day parties at home or just a treat for a friend or neighbor.
I love the chocolate bar wrappers – They say “Sweets for your candy “stache”. We tried to incorporate fun sayings using parts or the whole word “mustache”…. It was quite the challenge! We also include the mini chocolate bar wrappers in the pink and blue colorways, as shown.
A fun Valentine idea is the “Do you fancy my “moo” stache” printable card with the little mustache silhouette on a stick. The kids would probably have a ball playing with their mustaches! (and get a kick out of the card, too!)
These “Wet your Whiskers” printable drink wraps are so cute on the glass bottles. We also added little mustache silhouettes on the straws for an added detail to tie the party together.
Another one of my favorites – “Keep the gum out of your mustache” cards with a place for a stick of gum or pack of gum. Don’t you love the gum wraps?
Adria put this pillow together for her girls for Valentine’s Day (and she is going to share the DIY on the Ruff draft tomorrow!)
We saw the same mustache phrase all over Pinterest, and had some requests for it, so we included it… but we typically like to use our own cute phrases…. This one was just too cute to not try and do our own version, though! “I really mustache you a question – will you be my valentine?” Also, you could add the little clear container with some kisses that rock the 3/4″ party logo printable.
How fun is the little mustache bunting banner?
Also available – a “You melt my heart” folding printable bag topper! (Perfect to include S’mores ingredients) (Thanks to Vivian Kerr for the fabulous wording idea!)
Hopefully this year your kiddos will be excited about sending some fun and colorful Mustache Valentines!
We hope you enjoy! Who knew mustaches could be so cute?!

This spectacular UGLY SWEATER + MUSTACHE THEMED CHRISTMAS PARTY was submitted by Kate Petronis of And Everything Sweet! Oh my goodness, what an awesome party full of darling ideas and holiday party inspiration!
Kate said this about planning the party- ”This past weekend I threw my third annual trophy husband party: theme-UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATERS!! It was such a blast! My favorite type of party is one where people are forced to dress silly to fit in. Its an instant ice breaker as the moment guests walk through your door everyone is laughing at each other. ;)
I had SOOO much fun putting together the dessert table for this party. It was a bit of a challenge because obviously I wanted the table to be UGLY, but then again I didn’t. ;) I used a lot of different colors and patterns to create a mismatched/yet somewhat coordinating theme. Who knew ugly could be so challenging!?!?
Lauren, from Lauren Haddox Designs, shared her Tacky and Mustachey collection with me. It fit perfectly with my theme. I loved the addition of mustaches!! Since it was also a trophy husband party it totally fit!
I don’t normally “do” cookies. I looked into purchasing some, but at $5/cookie (at the lowest) I figured I’d try my hand at them. Let me just tell you, $5/cookie AIN’T enough! These little suckers are time consuming!!!
My FAVORITE addition to the table were the little sweater push pop desserts. SO awesome! I purchased the sweaters from Susan’s Sweaters on etsy. They’re Barbie sweaters, hand knitted and then I got my hands on them and tackied them up. (THAT was FUN!) Under each sweater is red velvet cake and cream cheese icing in a push pop.
And since adults don’t typically attack desserts quite like kids, I left some boxes out on the table so they could “stache” away some treats for later (i.e. their kids). That worked! The dessert table was 100% cleared by the end of the night as guests left with their boxes of goodies.
I set up a cheesy photo booth with a winter background purchased at Oriental Trading, some silly photo props, and of course, a blow up Santa to pose with.
And since it was a trophy husband party I had to create games for the guys to compete against each other for title of #1 TROPHY HUSBAND. Let me first start off by saying we have the BEST, most COOPERATIVE group of guy friends EVER! They truly are trophy husbands!! Such good sports!! (I can never have a normal party, with normal socialization). We did a version of dizzy bat (a trophy husband party tradition). We split the guys into two groups and created a relay race. Using wrapping paper as “the bat”, they had to spin around 4 times with an ornament in their hand. A few feet away from the start was a little Christmas tree. After they were done spinning they had to RUN and place their ornament on the tree and then run back. Once they reached the end the next guy could start. HILARITY!!! They were all over the place, some even fell from too much dizziness. (so funny, like pee in your pants kind of laughing, just saying).
Next, was blindfolded gift wrapping. The guys were given a box (I used cracker boxes, mac n cheese boxes, etc) to wrap. (I pre-cut the paper so no one got hurt!) We blind folded them, put them in pairs (they had to share tape), and gave them each a box, paper and a bow. This was also a race. Whichever team finished first (both guys had to have a fully wrapped present, topped off with their bow) were then judged on which present of the two was most presentable. This game, again gave us girls some awesome laughs. It was belly busting watching these guys (in their ugly sweaters) try to share tape, find their bows, etc. Just awesome!
The final game we played was “Holiday Sausage”. In this game the guys were asked questions like “What was your favorite toy to play with as a child?” or “In your opinion, what was the biggest issue facing this 2012 election?” and the only answer you could say is “holiday sausage”. You’re not allowed to laugh or smile when you give your response. Funny game, but if you ask me the guys had WAAAAY too easy of a time keeping a straight face. These men are hard to break!!
It was a GREAT night! SO MUCH FUN!!!”

Oh my goodness, this BARBERSHOP THEMED FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Sherry Turley of Little Teas is absolutely darling! I love the different twist on the typical mustache party theme!
