This is what Heather said about the party- “I just adore this watermelon theme first birthday party that my sweet customer, Carol, threw for her daughter Claire! From the invitation to the sweets, the decor to the favors, every last touch was watermelon themed in pink and green. Carol made the party extra-special with all of her homemade touches, using Chickabug printables and her Cricut machine!

To make the watermelon paper plate fans:
Carol said, ‘The watermelon paper plate fans were simply made from paper plates I purchased from Walmart. I decorated them with paper cut using my Cricut and ric rac I had laying around in my craft supplies. Then I glued each plate half to a paint stir stick which I painted green and tied with a ribbon. I wish I had a better picture of them. The fans were a hit, especially with an outdoor party in Houston in August!’

To make the party blowers:
Carol said, ‘I purchased the party blowers very cheap at Walmart and discarded the existing cover for them. I then used my Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge to cut the shape for the back. I took a circle punch and cut a hole large enough to slide down the blower both at the top and bottom and glued Chickabug’s adorable party circles to the front with a pink or green scalloped circle (cut from my Cricut).’

To make the personalized bib:
Carol said, ‘Claire’s bib was a last minute thought. I purchased a simple, blank bib from Hobby Lobby and printed off a Chickabug party circle onto iron-on paper. Just before the party, I ironed on the image and sewed on a bow. I think it turned out great for being so last minute!’”

1st Birthday Vintage Tea Party

This FIRST BIRTHDAY VINTAGE TEA PARTY was submitted by Lima Limão – Festas com charme from Portugal. This party is definitely full of all things charming and girly!

Here are some of my favorite elements of this vintage chic tea party:
The different sizes and shapes of glassware used to serve and display the desserts
The single pink rose motif used throughout the decor
The invitation wrapped in lacy paper
The lovely white cake adorned with, of course, a single pink rose
and MORE!

Here’s what Lima Limão – Festas com charme said about planning the party- “Carlota is a very famous baby in Portugal. She has her own blog (Carlota’s blog) written by her mother. It’s so popular that Carlota’s mom won the prize of “mom blogger of 2012″.
Carlota celebrated her first birthday with a tea party. The style was vintage chic with pink, white and touches of gold as a color palette.
We set a tea table with doilies and vintage roses as the main elements.
We paid attention to every detail so that this party could have all the necessary charm
. Congratulations to Carlota on her 1st Tea Party!!

Here’s what Thetis said about planning the party- “I was honored to style this gorgeous 1st birthday party for a beautiful little girl named Paris. Paris’ mum, who is an amazing cake designer, loves all things girly and usually opts for pretty pinks and soft colour palettes. However, after throwing some ideas around, we came up with a fresh and funky colour palette consisting of tangerine, peach, & gold. The party area consisted of a dessert table which featured an amazing 3 tier cake and an ombre buttercream “smash cake” for Paris. We also had some yummy vanilla buttercream cupcakes, homemade marshmallows, white chocolate mousse cups and incredible cookies custom-made to match the invitations. Additionally, we included a small selection of lollies for the kids to grab throughout the day. And no dessert table is complete without a colour coordinated candy bar. Stunning tassel garlands, made by Dandy and Darling (formerly Blush Loves Mint), acted as a backdrop, and we draped gold sequined fabric over the table for that extra sparkle.

The kids tables were covered in white linen paired with tangerine napkins, some cute dip dyed wooden cutlery and each place setting was complete with its own mini milk bottle. The chairs were a mini version of the Louis Ghost Chair (in red) which worked perfectly with our scheme.

Centrepieces consisted of beautiful milk glass vases filled with peach and orange roses. We also had a drink dispenser set up, filled with pink lemonade for the kids to enjoy in the warmth of the sun. Other decorations included giant balloons with tassels, also made by Dandy & Darling, and hanging in the marque were honeycomb balls and bells.

Each guest received their very own dip dyed ribbon wand to play with. Cute little white and gold boxes filled with pastel coloured meringues were given as party favours.”

Here’s what Emily said about planning the party- “Ariella is our little winter baby, with her birthday falling in the first week of January. Even though we live in Los Angeles and it’s not technically freezing over here, I still loved the idea of making a ‘winter wonderland’ themed 1st birthday party for her. I’d seen quite a few winter wonderland parties floating around on the web, but I didn’t want recreate those typical winter parties with penguins, polar bears, and igloos. Instead, I had the idea in my head for a rustic/shabby chic winter wonderland party that still had the winter feel, but was a bit more girly & sophisticated. Just like our little girl! I was drawn to lots of burlap, lace, jute twine, and birch, and I mixed those elements with crocheted snowflakes, snow covered manzanita branches, and blush & cream colored roses.”

Here’s what Summer said about planning the party- “My daughter is the girliest of girly girls so we appropriately celebrated her first birthday with a classic ‘fairy’ themed birthday. We had an amazing day complete with a girly teepee, miniature caravan rides and a baby photo booth (which very quickly turned into an adult booth.) We trawled through secondhand shops for decorations and I am very fortunate to have a skilled fiance who has been at my beck and call whipping up props to my heart’s desire. The day was an amazing success and I can’t wait for birthday number two – I’m already channeling themes.”
