We have another fabulous giveaway for you this week! Win a $250 Halloween Party Pack from Meri Meri!! Have you heard about, Meri Meri?! If you haven’t, you’re missing out….THE cutest party supplies & more! I’m a little obsessed with ALL of their products!
“It began in Los Angeles, 1985 . . . Meredithe (who’s childhood nickname was Meri Meri) sitting at her kitchen table . . . some scissors and pens, a BIG pot of glitter. Our first cards were made that way.
The magic spread. . . Local Stationery stores in Los Angeles loved those cards and asked for more. One kitchen table and one pair of scissors wasn’t enough. We needed lots of kitchen tables and an ENORMOUS pot of glitter.
Then, in 1987, we presented our little range of handmade cards at the National Stationery Show in New York. The response was phenomenal. Pretty soon there were major stores like Bergdorf Goodman taking on our range for their Christmas season. More kitchen tables and GREAT BIG SACKS of glitter!
The company grew from that little network of Moms working from home from Meredithe’s designs and direction.
Today . . . We don’t design on kitchen tables anymore. We now work in studios in a 400 year old building, overlooking an ancient churchyard in a little town called Cheltenham, 1 hour west of London, England. But we still have our scissors and our pens and all the glitter . .
These days Meredithe heads a studio of twenty designers and art workers and Meri Meri products are sold all over the world. Life is a little busier than it used to be. We’re working on lots of new projects, from our traditional cards and invitations, Bakeware, Gifts, Partyware and so much more!”

How creative is this GOONIES THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY { would make a great HALLOWEEN PARTY, too} submitted by Audrey Novak of Sweet Cheeks Tasty Treats! Wow, so much detail and so many wonderful ideas!
Audrey said- “To celebrate my son’s 4th birthday we planned a GOONIES themed party! We are all BIG fans of the movie around here, and after all the guests left he told me it was his “BEST party EVER!”
When Dane originally told me he wanted a GOONIES party, I have to admit, I spent a couple of weeks trying to convince him that maybe he wanted a different party theme…one that was a little easier to plan – LOL! He had his mind made-up and I figured out a way to make it work. I decided we’d have GOONIES elements, with some pirate decorations, skulls, lots of treasure and hoped it would all come together. I tried really hard to not make it just a pirate party and didn’t want a Halloween feel…I think the end result was more than I could have hoped for!
Squared Party Printables created a GOONIES themed party package for me. It really gave the party a cohesive feel! I wanted to incorporate several quotes from the movie in the printables, and they looked great framed throughout the party. I used the 2” cupcake toppers on SO many things…cupcakes (of course), Cake Pops, Cupcake Shooters, favor bags and several other treats!
I found a few different GOONIES movie posters online and hand them hanging throughout the house. We framed the Truffle Shuffle poster and plan on hanging it in my son’s room after the party.
I also framed some printed GOONIES cards from Thunderpeep Designs. She had created caricature-style renditions of some of the key characters, Sloth, Mama Fratelli and One Eyed Willy…another FUN way to tie in the movie. I used a TON of borrowed items to decorate, along with LOTS of thrift store finds. My Grandma had most of the trunks that we used just tucked away in her basement. I also managed to borrow a Statue of David figure! I’m not sure that all of our guests got the movie reference on that one…but TRUE fans of the movie thought it was hilarious!
The favor station included lots of FUN goodies including Ring Pops, Rock Candy, Skull rings, necklaces, jewels, golden coin candy, candied cornfetti, eye patches and Pinchers of POWER, to name a few. I put out paper bags and skeleton stickers so the kids could decorate their own goody-sack to fill-up! I also had some COOL favors for the grown-ups at the party. Inspired by the Lost Garden Wishing Well scene from the movie, Two Jennifers created stamped quarter charms! Some were stamped with “My Wish” and some with “My Dream.” They look great on necklaces or even key chains and turned out SO super cool!
I created ALL of the desserts for the party…I love doing it and had LOTS of fun ideas! To honor our favorite character from the movie, Sloth, I made several Rocky Road-inspired desserts! We served Rocky Road Cupcakes, giant marshmallows dipped in chocolate and then rolled in walnuts, and cupcake shooters. I pre-scooped Rocky Road ice cream into cupcake liners…and then forgot to get them out during the party! I also made “Buried Treasure” Cupcakes, they had a layer of Crunch Coat topping under the frosting…SO fun! I have to say, out of ALL the desserts…the Cake Pops STOLE the show! Dane had requested some skeleton pops and…SLOTH Cake Pops! I figured he was already lumpy to start with, so they were worth a shot – LOL! They turned out hilariously cute…I was literally laughing out-loud as I was making them.
Another fun movie reference, I wanted to serve a drink that looked like the grody-water Mama Fratelli serves to the boys in the Lighthouse. I made an Apple Juice/White Grape Juice combination and put it in our big beverage dispenser. Next to it, I put a framed printable with a quote from that scene in the movie…funny!
One activity the kids really enjoyed was digging for buried treasure in our backyard. We buried a bunch of seashells and colored gems in our sandbox and the kids dug away! They put their buried treasure in some SUPER cute, hand-stamped canvas bags from Thunderpeep Designs. We also had a bench in the backyard so they could walk-the-plank! I planned on having a Truffle Shuffle dance-off, but the kids were having SO much fun playing outside, we just never got around to it!
When I started planning the GOONIES party my son asked me if we could invite Sloth to the party! I immediately got online, found a Sloth mask, Superman Shirt, red suspenders and made the purchase. The next day, Dane informed me that maybe Sloth shouldn’t come to the party because, “Sloth kinda freaks me out sometimes Mom!” LOL! I told him it was rude to uninvited people, but if he was scared when Sloth got to the party, he didn’t have to see him. Well…Sloth arrived…Baby Ruth Bars in-hand…and most of the kids were willing to go up to him since he was giving out full-size candy bars. Dane hid in his playhouse and told Sloth he could just toss one up to him…SO funny!
After all of our guests went home, Dane still told me his favorite part of the party was when Sloth came, but quickly added that he didn’t want him to visit again anytime soon.”

This fun HALLOWEEN GLAM PARTY was submitted by Debbie of Wants and Wishes Design! I love the little haunted house milk boxes and all of the decor!
Debbie said- “I’m so excited for my new Halloween collection with you Kara… I wanted to create a glam Haunted House that was spooky while still being fun, glamorous and whimsical. Our collection includes a haunted house carton that you can filled with treats for a little favor or that you can let them fill as you “Trick or Treat” at the table. I used the spiderweb window in the milk carton as the backdrop in the dessert bar to make it look like the we are “in the haunted house”. We staged our dessert table to look like it was in the cellar of a witches spell binding den. Bats are hanging upside down from a broomstick we made {tutorial coming on our website- less then 5 minute broomstick and under $5}. This is great for a prop or a costume! We had monster candles lit flanking the “ding dong the witch is dead” treat and coffin boxes with Dracula sugar cookies. A cage held “fresh bats” {Hershey bars} for ingredients needed in spells and potions. Other desserts were gummy toads and “glittery” cupcakes. my favorite treat I created for this collection is our ding dong the witch is dead. We took a ding dong and drizzled green chocolate to make it look like a witch was melting and attached our witches feet printable to it {from our printable collection}. Happy Haunting!!!! For a fun Halloween activity we made “Haunted House” gram cracker houses, like gingerbread house but spooky and with chocolate gram crackers. You could also make with sugar cookies and color the dough!. The kids haunted houses are really quite fun because they are not perfect with creaks and droops that look extra haunted! They even took pieces of broken graham crackers and made signs and multi-layered parts. Purple grape red vines were used as trees. One little guy didn’t really want to decorate as much as fill his house with the candy.”

I was so excited to be able to use my antique piano to display the set-up for this party! A witches ball definitely fits with a “musical” piano, don’t you think? Plus, the Witches Ball Printable Halloween Collection from my shop is one of my favorites and had everything I needed to complete the party! I just love the silhouette witches and vintage/musical feel.
The kids drank their spooky green punch {with added dry ice} from these cute little cauldrons. Each cauldron held a Gray Striped Paper Straw topped with printable …
One of my favorite elements of the party was the witches ball gown. It is actually an old wedding dress found at a thrift store then dyed and painted black and put on a dress form. It turned out just how I pictured it! It looks just like a gown that a witch would wear to a “witches ball”. I love the little skeleton tailor “mending” the dress…
These Witch Broom Pens from my shop were a hit! I had someone customized them. They make such a fun and festive party favor!
I mod podged one of the onto the lid of the cake stand pictured below….
I made fun little utensil and napkin kits, packed up in mini plastic cauldrons. Plastic Skeleton Utensils from my shop were placed together with Cream Ric-Rac Ribbon, and then tied onto the handle of each cauldron. A green napkin was then inserted into the cauldrons, as well….
Black Candy Strings from my shop were displayed in an apothecary jar. I labeled it “Witch Hair” using the printable …
I thought these muted green apple candy rings piled into an Apothecary Jar made perfect “warts”! I mod podged one of the onto the jar….
These Halloween bottle labels from my shop are the perfect addition to any halloween party! Stick them on old bottles {this one was an olive oil bottle} and apothecary jars…
I wrapped Burlap Ribbon and one of the printable around this jar filled with sour candy straws. I labeled them “Worms” using one of the printable ….
These adorable, edible broomsticks were made out of pretzel rods. Using the Black Cherry Candy Strings from my shop, we cut dozens of small strips {each about 4″ long} and “glued” them around the ends of the pretzels with royal icing. We then wrapped a small length of a green apple sour strip at a spot about 1/2″ from the end of the licorice strings. We secured that with royal icing as well. That’s it! A perfect Witches Ball party treat {and favor}…
Oops! It looks like some witches fell right into their cupcakes! This was so easy {and fun!} to create. I cut several Gray Striped Paper Straws and Lime Green Striped Paper Straws in half and glued the printable to the tops. Then I stuck a matching “pair” of the legs/shoes into each cupcake. These would be perfect for a Wizard of Oz party, too!
Using Jute Twine to hang, the was hung from a spray painted wooden broom. The broom was mounted above the entry door!…
I started the party by sending out the printable Witches Ball Invitations. I framed the front of the invite to display at the party…
We had a good time thinking of things to write on these Edible Tombstone Cupcake Toppers from my shop! I thought they were perfect on top of the red velvet cupcakes…
In addition to the scary green punch, I also served milk in Glass Milk Bottles {which were adorned with mod podged }. Like the punch cauldrons, each bottle held a Gray Striped Paper Straw topped with printable ….
For the older party guests, there were Clear Plastic Wine Glasses adorned with green apple candy rings {snipped on one edge with kitchen shears}. A creepy effect was given to each glass by turning them upside down and adding drops of black craft paint at the base and then letting it drip down. I also froze plastic spiders with water in ice cube trays and added those to the glasses as well!..
For an inexpensive and easy party backdrop, floor-length strips of Burlap fabric from my shop were hung on the wall behind the piano…
Several of the were attached to twigs from a tree in my front yard. A length of Cream Ric-Rac Ribbon was then tied around each stick. The sticks were then placed into cupcakes. So easy! Beside each cupcake, I placed a white chocolate “bone” that I made using white candy melts and a silicone bone mold…
This witch shoe roller skate was an amazing find at a Victorian shop. I filled it with black and white candy sticks from my shop. Perfect for a Witches Ball!…
this creepy black wreath was made out of plastic GARBAGE BAGS! I simply bent a pool noodle into a circle and secured it with duck tape, then cut the bags into strips and tied them onto the pool noodle. After that, I just stretched the plastic to give it the creep factor!…
