This charming NAUTICAL THIRD BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Lia Visirin of Wedding Faeries Photography.
What a cute party! I love all of the fun under the sea dessert and food ideas! From the Star Fish cookies to the Sea Shell chocolates. This party is so fun and would work perfectly for either a boy or girl!
The Nautical party ideas and elements that I like best from this awesome birthday event are:
- The cute life buoy napkin ties
- The cute cake with little swimming green fish and a white star fish
- The fun chocolate Sea Shells
- The fun anchor drink ties
- and MORE!
Nautical Party Details:
This is what Lia said about planning/styling the party- “When I asked my soon-to-be 3 year old nephew what theme he wanted for his upcoming birthday he replied “fish and moon”. That’s how it all started.
Being an illustrator, I started sketching out fish for him and made him pick his favorite. Me and my sister planned the whole birthday around that little fish.
I designed, printed and cut all the paper decorations and his invitations.
We had bought some nautical theme items one year before as props for a baby photo shoot so they came in handy this year for Marc’s birthday. At the end we added some hanging Christmas lights mostly to entertain Marc (what kid doesn’t love lights?) but they turned out to be awesome back lighting for a proper under the sea atmosphere.
The cake was ordered with the local bakers. We opted for a simple white cake and we made all the cake decorations ourselves from sugar paste.
The big center fish was made by me from fimo, which I then painted in the colors Marc chose.
We made “sand” cupcakes. A simple vanilla cupcake with sprinkles of crushed biscuits. We incorporated this sand idea everywhere we could: around the cake, on a plate with chocolate shells and on the cupcakes.
We also baked and decorated our own fish and starfish cookies. The starfish were made using a simple star cookie cutter and then we slightly pinched each tip so it ended up looking like a starfish before baking them.
The seashells on the table are real ones I brought home from a trip to France.
The little bottles were filled with home made orange and grapefruit juice.
And all the photos were taken by us Wedding Faeries Photography
All in all it was a success and Marc had a great time”.
