A Very Merry Tailgating Christmas Party Details:
This is what Jennifer said about planning the party- “When my in-laws asked me to style a tailgating themed Christmas party for their office, I couldn’t wait to get started!
Here in Seattle we are home to a little ol’ team that you have probably heard a little something about this year – THE SEAHAWKS!
I wanted to capture the energy and team spirit that goes along with tailgating and marry it to the warm, light, cheerfulness of Christmas. As I went through the planning and creating process, I kept questioning aspects of my design – worrying that some parts were too much Christmas and not enough football and vice versa. Once everything was set up I was no longer worried!
Like with any of my events, most of the decor is handcrafted by me. This keeps supply costs down and ensures that every event is truly unique.
For the entry I created a keg cup Christmas wreath and a football field entry sign.
For the dessert display I covered the tabletop in a felt football field. A selection of cupcakes were spread out on the field to look like football players. The cupcakes were adorned with paper football helmets and even paper cleats (one of my favorite details). For the rest of the treats I built two sets of bleachers and topped the cupcakes with your standard Seahawk’s fan necessities – ribbon pom poms and super fun signs that a fan might make for a game. I had a lot of fun with the mini signs!
Other dessert table fun: Nutcracker Coach Pete Carroll and a festive scoreboard. Sadly the Seahawks ended up losing this game, so the scoreboard is inaccurate. Darn it!
The food table was also adorned with a felt football field table cover, but the focal point in this display was the goal post turned Christmas tree. This was a pain to make, but turned out even better than I had envisioned! The felt tree skirt was a last minute addition. After I wrapped the post in garland and added ornaments I realized it looked a lot like a Christmas tree and that was when I added the tree skirt and the adorable itty bitty stockings. The stockings are numbered using some of our favorite Hawks players’ numbers. So cute – also a pain to make.
Other food display fun: Football figurine food label holders. My favorite is the ref holding the mac and cheese label”.
