SHABBY CHIC BABY SHOWER DETAILS:
Kim said this about planning the shower- “When we found out my sister, Vanessa, was pregnant with her second child, the whole family was elated. She has a son that is two-years old and is now pregnant with a gir! This would be the fourth grandchild in our family and the second granddaughter. It was a great opportunity for the ladies in the family to get together and have a pretty shower.
Our color concept was peach, mint, ivory and khaki. Our design inspiration came from the restaurant. Shenandoah At the Arbor was a quaint, shabby chic restaurant, family owned and operated for over 20 years. Shenandoah has heavy southern roots and the guest enjoyed their signature Apple Fritters, Granny’s Fried Chicken, served with mashed potatoes and gravy. We worked with all of the super cute decor inside. We used all of the tables available inside to arrange the room to accommodate 50 people. We had two family style tables with 20 people at each and a round table with 10 that sat the Mommy-To-Be, Baba-To-Be and Kuya-To-Be.
Vanessa is of Filipino-American heritage and her husband Mostafa was born in California and moved back to Iraq and spent most of his childhood there until War in Iraq started and was fortunate enough to move back to California. In Arabic, the word “Baba” means “father” and in Tagalog, the word “Kuya” means “older brother”.
We brought in Natural Linen table linens, napkins in three different colors that were pre-folded in a bow from Glow Concepts Fine Linens. We used Fruitwood Chiavari Chairs with a mix of different shabby chic cushion covers. The flowers consisted of peonies, roses, carnations and baby’s breath in milk jars from Wenfloral Design Studio. For my sister’s round head table we used a peach satin linen. The favors were put together by our cousin, Melissa – for all the female guests peach colored nail polish and for the male guests bottle openers. She bagged each favor and made labels for each.
The lovely dessert and candy buffet table was decorated and designed by Kim from Two’s A Party. Working with the color theme and shabby chic decor, all of the desserts, candies, stands, labels and banner fit perfectly in this girly shower. The macaroons were simply delicious and the lemon merigues were to die for! It was a hit with all of the guests – especially the Aunties!”
