Why have pumpkin pie when you could have this?! Such a delicious dessert that will wow your guests at Thanksgiving or your next party!

Pumpkin, Cream Cheese and Salted Caramel Trifle / Parfait Recipe

Pumpkin Cake Layer

Ingredients:
1 15oz pumpkin puree can
1 package yellow cake mix
1/2 tsp vegetable oil
1 tsp ground nutmeg

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Mix together cake mix, canned pumpkin and nutmeg in a large bowl until well blended. Pour mixture into pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Cool and cut into small 1 inch pieces or crumble with clean hands. Set aside.

Pumpkin Pudding Layer

Ingredients:
1 15oz pumpkin puree can
2 packages 3oz instant vanilla pudding mix
Milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:
Prepare pudding according to package directions. Whisk in pumpkin puree and cinnamon. Allow to set up in the refrigerator.

Cream Cheese Layer

Ingredients:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 8 oz package cream cheese (softened)
¼ cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Beat cream cheese until smooth and add sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice and vanilla until it starts to thicken.

Salted Caramel Layer (Optional)

Ingredients:
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/3 stick salted butter
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Place sugar and water in saucepan. Swirl around until all the sugar is wet. Add more water if needed and turn the burner onto medium heat. Keep swirling the mixture around so it caramelizes evenly. Cook until it’s almost at desired color. Remove from heat and CAREFULLY pour in the heavy cream (It may rise up and spatter). Whisk until combined and add butter & vanilla. Cool for 20 minutes before use.

TRIFLE ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS

In a large glass trifle dish or miniature glass dishes (dishes pictured above available in Kara’s Party Shop HERE for only $1.97 each) layer pumpkin cake, pumpkin pudding, cream cheese mixture and caramel sauce until bowl or glasses are filled (adding as many layers as you would like). Top the trifle off with more of the cream cheese mixture. Use crumbled pumpkin cake as garnish.

Yields one large Trifle or 24-30 small trifle jars.
