Fisherman Themed Birthday Dinner Party

this is the fisherman themed birthday dinner i put together for my husbands birthday last week! to see the HGTV feature gohere.
my husband is an AVID fisherman…so for months i’ve been planning the ultimate fisherman’s escape, a dinner just for the two of us, right by his favorite fishing spot. the weather turned out to be great. and although there still isn’t much green on the tree’s being that it’s still april, the setting was perfect.
hope you enjoy!

i wanted to add a vintage feel to the party. so i found some vintage glasses, and old vintage picnic basket {that i used for the flower arrangement}, a vintage fishing net, vintage fishing lures, vintage dishes, vintage fishing creels, vintage lanterns, a vintage vase, vintage canning jars, a vintage owl..and more.
oh, and i bought some authentic fish fossils off ebay that i used as little coasters….

  1. Wow, this is beautiful. The photography is beautiful…it all looks like it should be in a magazine!

  2. This was like looking through the pages of a magazine! Just beautiful! Who would have thought fishing could be so elegant nd beautiful! Just lovely!

  3. you did a fantastic job!!! really. My husband is also a fanatic about fishing so I can really relate. This is wonderful.

  4. Kara,
I love this so much! Girl, are you a photographer on top of being super party planner?? LOVE!! How in the world did you lug all of that stuff down to your hubby's favorite fishing spot?
I got choked up because the wooden bowl for bread was just like my mother's that she would put walnuts in every Christmas. I don't know why she always had walnuts at Christmas but I do now too. It's funny how little things can mean so much especially when that person is no longer with you. Where did you find that bowl?
    Thanks for sharing,
    Michelle
