Cupcake Tea Party!

Lyndsey and I hosted our Cupcake Par-Tea this weekend! It was a big success! Here's a lot of photo's from the whole event {thanks for letting me use some of your photo's Lyndsey}. Hope you enjoy! To see more be sure and check out Lyndsey's blog, Kitchen Doughdough!
I've always LOVED cupcakes..so when Lyndsey came to me with the idea of having a cupcake party I just had to jump on board!
I've been collecting cupcake memorabillia for years now...so with this party I finally had a chance to use a lot of it as decor etc {if I ever have a little girl, I'm going to use it all in her bedroom and make it a 'cupcake bakery' themed room}.
So here's the tablescape...
Each setting had a cupcake place mat {I got them at target last year}, a cupcake charger {actually, a cupcake plate}, a pink plate, a tea set plate and bowl {we purchased all the tea set items at ikea}, a tea cup place card holder, a cupcake place card, tiny tea set silverware wrapped in a cupcake napkin & cupcake napkin ring {I bought the napkins and cupcake plates at hobby lobby}, a glass that was set on a tea plate, a cupcake cookie, and a cupcake sucker. It all pulled together so nicely.

The front entry display...The cupcake banner said, 'Hello Cupcake'. It was one of the first things I made for the party months ago.
Another view of the main table and drink table... As soon as all the guests arrived Lyndsey did a fun cupcake demo in her kitchen. She showed everyone how to pipe frosting onto cupcakes. She had bags and decorating tips for everyone to frost their own cupcake after the demo...Some of the ladies decorating their cupcakes...Here's a close up of the adorable table cloth we had on the drink table. Lyndsey's mom made it {Pots and Pins}. It was sooo cute! Thanks for sending it Nan!...And now...sitting down to have our 'Cupcake Tea'...A closer look at one of the napkin rings {that's lip gloss attached to it} and cupcake cookies...Lyndsey made some really fun cupcakes. She spelled out 'PARTEA' with alphabits on some of them! So cute...
And the others were strawberry lemonade cupcakes {with secret ingredient, coconut milk! yum!} They were DE-LISH! To see the recipes go to her blog, Kitchen doughdough! And here's the cupcakes I made. They're chocolate sour cream with peanut butter cream cheese frosting. I'm putting the recipe and details on my cupcake blog, Kara's Cupcakes...The little display we put out on the front entry table...
Our invite, and a cute cuppy frame that said, 'WELCOME TO OUR CUPCAKE PAR-TEA'...A close up of the tea cup place card holders...Here's Lyndsey's brownie pops! She put them in a cute flower pot and wrote 'par-tea' on top. So adorable. And look what she used as sticks....
Pixie Sticks! How clever is that?!...
I made cupcake drink charms for each setting {at the bottom of the glass}....I finally made some 'Bakerella' cupcake pops! I have been wanting to make these for a while now. It was the perfect occasion...This is what was hanging above the table. Lyndsey made these cute lanterns into cupcakes with sequins and cupcake liners!... Here's a close up of one of the cupcake sugar cookies I made. I put them in little bags and tied them with cupcake ribbon...I made this jumbo cupcake for the main centerpiece {and stuck a matching jumbo 'hello cupcake' topper on top}...The door prizes we had drawings for...
Cupcake notebooks, cuppy paper, assorted cupcake stamps, cuppy cards, and a few other things {found everything at Michaels!}...Lyndsey's mom gave us the idea to make mini cake platters for the guests to take home...she had a cupcake party up in Seattle a few weeks ago and made them for all her guests. They were really easy to make, and look like they're store bought! I made them out of candle holders and glass plates {glued together with e6000}. The cupcake shown is actually a box. I bought them for the guests to put their cupcake earrings in {you can see the cupcake earrings I made in the very top photo}...
Two of our beautiful guests holding their cake platters {with cupcakes to take home of course}...
And here's Lyndsey and I posing after the party was all said and done...
Lyndsey made our adorable cupcake aprons! They had cute sequin cupcakes on top and fun cupcake fabric across the bottom. Thanks Lyndsey, you're the best!
We had a ton of fun, didn't we ladies?! We all felt like little girls again..hehe.

cicus things, circus things...

I'm behind on posting my circus party ideas. I've been preparing for our cupcake tea party that's in A FEW days!! Be sure and check back soon for more on that...
I have a lot of circus/carnival things that I've been collecting over the past 6 months (I know, I'm crazy...but I think a lot of you who look at my site understand how obsessive we can be..hehe!). I'll get pictures of some of the items/ideas I have..but am going to leave some as surprises for the big final birthday event post! Above are pics of some of the banners I have for the booths...I also have a cotton candy one, as well as a few others that aren't pictured. There's some games that I've found too..but again, among those aren't pictured is a circus golf game, ball toss, circus body boppers, and more. Fun stuff. Oh, and you can also see the circus candy I found. I love that the candy boxes even look circus-y :).
Here's my boys' shirts that I made. I cut the circus scenes out of fabric...glued the fabric pieces onto the shirts (spray and stick fabric glue), and then sewed around the edges for a firm bond...So I've been searching all over for last seasons pottery barn 'fair' collection...but it's sold out everywhere :(. Look what I found though...a game that is VERY similar to pottery barn's! I was so excited when I found it! It's all fabric/canvas, very durable, and oh so cute!
And here's my make shift photo booth I just finished. The guests will get their picture taken in it with a clown nose on.
I made it out of 2 science fair display boards that I purchased at hobby lobby, some bright polka dot fabric (hemmed and glued on with craft spray), and paint...And here's a fabric photo op I found! Love it! I have a plastic one that I used last year for a church carnival..but I like this one a lot better I think...
And here's my carousel poles! I cut pvc pipe into 6 ft lengths and wrapped colored ribbon around each one. I'm going to use rebar and stick them into the ground around my back yard. The plan is to hang streamers from pole to pole (hence, 'carousel' poles).
Stay tuned for the cupcake tea party!! I'm counting down the days...which reminds me, I've got to go make some cupcakes!

cupcake tea party: sneak peek

As explained in a previous posts...my friend Lyndsey & I (both cupcake obsessors..hehe) are hosting a cupcake tea party here in a few weeks. I'm getting so excited. Here's a little looksy at part of what the table may look like. I did a small test run today. I'm missing the main part though...fresh cupcakes! There's also a lot of other things that are missing. Oh but you just wait :)....
I made these cutesy little cupcake earrings for all the guests. Aren't they adorable? They're made out of polymer clay. I'm putting the tutorial on my cupcake blog :)...I finished the napkin rings (etc) today...I attached a little cupcake lip gloss to each one. Fun, huh?... We're going to all revert back to our girlish childhood and have some fun!

circus fabric, cupcake display, & circus toys

I have some fabulous finds for my upcoming circus party to post!
I've been looking for prize toys for my prize booth...could these toys be any more PERFECT?! And the best part, I found them at dollar tree while out of town last week :)!..Darling little circus toys...And cute circus animals...This is a cupcake display that I found on a random website a few months ago...I put it together this morning. Isn't it so stinkin' cute?! I can't wait to see it with cupcakes...And here's the fabric...
So I was at ikea yesterday and randomly came across this fabric..It's not really circus fabric, but I think it's perfect! There's cute flag pennants, polka dots, stripes, and banners running up & down it. I'm going to sew it into some table cloths!...And here's some fun circus fabric I purchased at the fabric store...
I think I'm going to make table runners out of these pieces...
I just couldn't pass up this piece either. I'm going to cut out some of the circus scenes & apply them to cute t shirts for my birthday boys to wear. I'm not exactly sure what I'll do with the rest of it but I'm sure I'll come up with something :)...
And this adorable fabric is going to be the back drop of my photo booth! I'm going to take close up head shots of the guests with clown noses on...and will print the pictures to look like actual photo booth strips...
And last but not least...my other fabulous ikea find!! Isn't this bed canopy darling? It has circus written all over it, too :). I was so excited when I found it! The pennants, so cute..the polka dots, love 'em! I already have a large circus canopy that the gifts are going to go under...but I'll find a good place for this one now too!...Check back soon for my carousel yard poles & circus train cupcakes!
